The Way to BE

Psoriasis: How to Overcome It Naturally

mom and daughter

Do you want soft, glowing skin but suffer from psoriasis, inflammation or psoriatic arthritis? You could be at risk for more serious complications, like heart disease and cancer. With these Body Ecology guidelines, you can nourish your skin AND your body from the inside out.

Psoriasis is a skin disease that most commonly appears as “plaque psoriasis,” which is raised, inflamed red patches covered by a silvery white scale. It can appear anywhere on your body.

Psoriasis is not contagious and may seem like an unattractive and inconvenient part of your life, but it can become more serious. Psoriasis can develop into psoriatic arthritis, a condition characterized by inflammation, pain and swelling of the joints.

This chronic disease affects some 7.5 million Americans, and it appears that psoriasis is a more serious diagnosis than previously thought.

New research shows that psoriasis puts you at risk for:

  • Heart disease
  • Cancer
  • High blood pressure
  • Depression
  • Obesity
  • Crohn’s disease

With documented risks like these, psoriasis is more than just a cosmetic disease.

Common over-the-counter and prescription treatments of psoriasis aim to slow cell turnover and reduce scaling, but experts have not yet found an “official cure”.

The Inflammation Connection

Psoriasis is linked to systemic inflammation. Inflammation is your body’s response to stressfrom diet, lifestyle and/or environment. It causes many diseases like arthritis and cancer, as well as psoriasis and general aging.

At Body Ecology we teach that one of the main causes of inflammation is low-grade bacterial, viral or fungal infections in our blood, tissues and cells. To learn more about the causes of inflammation, read Inflammation: The Real Cause of All Disease & How to Reduce and Prevent It.

Common treatment of psoriasis includes anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen, but these just temporarily ease the symptoms. Body Ecology’s approach to whole body health provides a road map to wellness for those who suffer from psoriasis by: addressing your internal health, reducing inflammation by conquering infections (especially candidaisis), and healing your body from the inside out.

Body Ecology and Psoriasis

Here is our step-by-step approach to improving your psoriasis with the Body Ecology system for health and healing:

  1. Follow Our Seven Healthy Eating Principles and Seven Food Groups. Body Ecology’s Seven Universal Principles will lead you to solutions no matter what condition you want to improve or heal. Our seven food groups will tell you exactly what foods to eat and what foods to avoid to reverse your current health problem...including psoriasis.

To heal any disease including psoriasis you must focus on alkalizing your blood, building your immune system and conquering the infectionsthat cause inflammation. Over the years we have received many emails and comments from those on The Diet saying it “totally cleared up their two year old’s psoriasis” or I have struggled with psoriasis and nothing helped until I went on your diet.”

The Body Ecology Diet is an anti-fungalalkaline, largely plant basedsugar and gluten-free,probiotic diet.  We focus on helping you regain your health from the inside out. Of course, conquering yeast infections is our specialty and research clearly indicates a connection between yeast/fungal infections and psoriasis.

  1. Probiotics. Probiotics are one of the best ways to introduce healthy bacteria and yeast into your digestive tract where they can help you build your immune system so that your body can overcome the yeast infection. They also help you digest food, get rid of toxins, and fight inflammation that leads to psoriasis.

They are good for you both inside and out. In fact, here’s an interesting tip: Applyany of our probiotic liquids topically right onto your irritated and scaly skin. Simply steep a cotton cloth in the liquid to create a compress and apply. Cocobiotic, InnergyBiotic, BE WholeGrain or Dong Quai are all effective. Of course, throughout the day you will want to consume small amounts of these liquids taken internally, so that the beneficial microflora in these liquids can help alkalize your blood, build immunity and help conquer the yeast infection that often is the underlying cause of psoriasis...especially in young children.

Try Body Ecology probiotic liquids like Young Coconut Kefir and Coco-Biotic.

    mom and daughter

Sooth inflammatory conditions of your body and skin, like psoriasis, with probiotic-rich Coco-Biotic. Coco-Biotic is a champagne-like, sparkling fermented drink that helps improve your skin and can even help ease achy joints. Drink Coco-Biotic and heal your skin from the inside out.

And for a great probiotic-rich fermented vegetable option, try making our cultured vegetables for a daily dose of skin-healing beneficial bacteria and yeast.

  1. Sunshine. Even mainstream approaches to treating psoriasis recognize the sun as a natural remedy.Regular sunshine reduces inflammation, helps your body make vitamin D and helps heal psoriasis.
  2. Eat organic, unrefined oils, especially those rich in Omega 3 fatty acids like fish oil and hemp seed oil. Vitamin A (a fat soluble vitamin) has been shown to improve psoriasis. Fish oils, raw butter and ghee, egg yolk and red palm oil are great sources of fats that contain, Vitamin E is also beneficial and is found in extra virgin olive oil.
  3. Cleanse Your Liver and Your Colon. This is one of the most important steps you can take to overcome psoriasis. A toxic bowel and poor liver function underlie this skin condition. In fact, your skin reflects the condition of these two organs. Your liver rules your skin, eyes and joints in Chinese Medicine. Alcohol, drugs (medicinal and recreational), beer and wine not only harm the liver they make your candida infection more acute. Colon cleansing is a must!
  4. Reduce stress. High stress lifestyles increase the level of the stress hormone, cortisol, in your body and increase inflammation that can exacerbate conditions like psoriasis. Learn positive ways to handle stressand choose a lifestyle that minimizes stressful events and activities to give your body a chance to heal.
  5. Sleep better. Sleep is essential to reducing stress and inflammation and giving your body time to regenerate each and every night. Take steps to improve your sleep and you’ll improve your health.
  6. Neem powderNeem has been used for centuries to alleviate skin infections and disorders and may even be as effective as coal tar as a psoriasis remedy! Even better, neem powder is an all-natural remedy that works.
  7. Healthy soaps. If you’re careful about what you put in your body, then you should also be careful about what you use on your body. Instead of commercial soaps laden with chemicals, why not use healthy soaps that soothe your skin instead of irritating it?

Heal Your Body, Heal Your Skin

Don’t let psoriasis get the best of you.
With an antifungal diet (The Body Ecology Diet) and some basic lifestyle changes, you can reduce inflammation and heal your skin as you heal the rest of your body.

I had been dealing with psoriasis for months and nothing helped. I was at my lowest and struggling with self-image issues due to psoriasis. I'm at the age where I want to show off my body, but I couldn't because of psoriasis. It made me insanely jealous to see other girls flaunting their skin that they took for granted. I was so insecure. Then one day I stumbled upon this natural remedy ( ), after 2 weeks of following it to a tee, I finally feel pretty again, the skin on my legs is no longer scaly and I can show them off again with skirts.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition where your own body has antibodies attacking itself shows up on the skin as ab normal tissue patches of red inflamed itchy pili skin, but in reality psoriasis is not a skin problem it’s a gut problem it originates from your gut usually from leaky gut where there’s certain food that goes through there and in your body develops antibodies and it creates autoimmune, among a lot of other autoimmune conditions that you can get stemming from the gut so that’s what it is caused by. I have been using Dermalmd Psoriasis serum on my 9 year old who suffers from skin rashes. This is the only product I have found that really works and does not sting after application. We have been using this product for two years. I would highly recommend any Dermalmd products.

Im 43 and a couple years ago i got psoriasis on my elbows and i tried batanical oils drinking tons of water which helped a little bit, changed my diet but nothing seemed to help.. People kept saying your gettimg older your body is changing and i felt that was a real crappy answer to my problm. So im a smart guy, so i thought about what hav i changed in the last year before i had this. I went through everything what i ate, drank, showered with and i came up with i started using hydrogen peroxide to swish my mouth with because people said itl whiten your teeth and make your breathe better killing the bacteria. I stopped using peroxide and in about 4 weeks my psoriasis was gone! Hasnt been back until i changed my toothpaste which had peroxide in it and i started to get a flare up. So i changed and used all natural soap, shampoo, mouth wash, tooth paste. Things hav been great . Just about two weeks a go i got it all over my lower legs. I think ive narrowed it down to eaither my face cream or this hot tea ive been drinking. So my point is your body is telling you there is a problem and it could be one small thing that triggers people out breaks. Laundry detergent, mouth wash, something chemical oriented. It may be that changing your eating habits is not enough. it may be something your putting on your body. Your skin absorbs everything it comes in contact with and transfers that substance through your bloodstream and into your liver.. I hope what i said can help one person cause this skin issue just flat out sucks..

I have mild psoriasis since 2001.
I don't take medicine for this.
I believe that it is related to bowel as it went away when I took enema.
    Be stree free.
    Stop alcohol.
    Try to not over eat.
    Keep bowels good.
    Do pranayama every day.

I understand what goes through a Psoriatic - I am suffereing from last 2 years,
But I have a never die attitude always,, Have use steriods in start, Ayrveda in betwee, fed up & used Homeopathy became worse..

All you have to do is start eating raw food for a month and notice the changes -
I can see my skin getting better now while im writing you this.

You must also do Pranayama (Anulom/vinulom & Kapalabaati) every morning.

    Best of Luck for healing...
NOTE - You might find it difficult - but once you get the skin back the happniess is amazing..

  • rama hoetzlein

Jim, when you say it is "solved", do you have a reference to an academic paper with these results? I am curious how they found the cause is food additives?

  • Jim

As of 2012, Sept. the disease has been solved. It is caused by food additives. You must eat only organic food and avoid junk/processed food. The condition will reverse after months or years. There are a number of herbs and powders to reduce inflammation, but no magic pill to reverse the inflammatory syndrome that has built up over years or decades.

  • Sagar

I am indian too and suffering from this disease too! My flare up is recent and I went on a diet but I am kinda lost too.I am hesitant to using drugs and I probably can't use them anyway.
If you want, you can get in touch with me and we can try to work on this together.
