I have just started using it and so far am satisfied with the product. What i am not satisfied with, however, is that it is advertised as being calorie free. It has 4 grams of carbs which are equivalent to 16 calories. Therefore, this is not a zero calorie product. That is the same number of calories 1 tsp of sugar has. Of course, there are other reasons to use it but don't use it as a calorie saver instead of sugar

At $20+ a pound it is way too expensive! It taste good, but there must be price gauging going on for it to be this expensive. Lakanto Rocks! Best sugar replacement ever. If you have never had it, there are two significant differences between this and sugar to be aware of. 1. For those who follow the blood type diet protocols, I think I am correct in remembering that not a single bloodtype can do corn, and it is one very difficult food to avoid, as it is in everything! It would be hard to know if the fermentation process destroys the corn lectins responsible for blood agglutinization---who can answer that one?? I would be much happier to have the source of the erythritol come from one of the other sources mentioned, which, ironically, no one ever makes erythritol from! It's always corn. But they tout pears & mushrooms and such. I'm not convinced that this huge allergen and universal problem lectin is annihilated in this product. Also, the makers of Splenda have come out with an identical product called Nectresse August 2012.
This product is great for satisfying my sugar cravings without the worry of detrimental effects. I eat straight spoonfuls of it and it really satisfies the sugar craving. A must for anyone on the diet!

I was so excited to receive the Lakonto in the mail and to start experimenting with it. When it arrived I decided to have some in a mug of hot tea as I hadn't had sweetened tea in some time. The taste was o.k. I still felt it do a strange thing to my tonge though not unlike what stevia does in my mouth. Then a short time afterward I was feeling queasy and my stomoch was upset. I directly linked this with the Lakanto since I hadn't had anything else to eat. I have been hesitant to try it again as the feeling was quite uncomfortable. I took my bag of Lakonto with me when I went to visit my mother in law who happens to be a diabetic. I decided to make some banana bread for her and I got rave reviews from 2 people on that bread. They didn't seem to have any adverse affects from it. I guess I should try it again and perhaps in something I have baked rather than in tea and see if I have the same reaction. If it works for you it is probably a pretty good product and option.

I liked that this product had a VERY similar appearance to the unbleached sugars we have used. The kids and I did not discern a noticible difference in the taste. My husband, however, did. So far I have used Lakanto in 3 desserts. The key lime pudding recipe and the chocolate mousse recipe from the Lakanto Cookbook and my version of chocolate chip cookies. I was satisfied with the sweetness of the Lakanto in all the recipes. I missed the homemade taste you get with butter and sugar as it carmelizes in cookie recipes. I used real butter, just refrigerated the dough before baking to prevent the cookies from spreading like the Lakanto Cookbook had warned, but it didn't give that butter /sugar chemical reaction flavor. But, I would still bake them again because they did satisfiy my sweet tooth and I actually liked them better the more I ate them. As for the key lime pudding recipe; it wasn't the Lakanto's fault. That recipe was terrible. The chocolate mousse recipe was better , especially when I made the whipped cream with the Lakanto (which was really good) then folded it all into the chocolate mousse.

I had a physical reaction to the sweetener. I made the zucchini muffin recipe and ate 2 of them. Later that evening I awoke to itching arms from the elbow down to the hands. I hadn't eaten anything new other than this sweetener. I also have been sensitive to corn in the past, but have never had this type of reaction. I think it's the corn sensitivity - perhaps the fermentation of it.

Love the Lakanto! It is worth the expense! It truly is great on cereal as well as baking or in coffee! There is absolutely no aftertaste that even Splenda has, and it's sweeter in baking goods than Spelenda. Love this stuff!!!
Lakanto is surprisingly tasty. It just puts my mind at easy that the whole family is not using artificial sweeteners.
Its not super sweet, but its not bad. Doesn't have an aftertaste which is very nice.
Pricey, but delicious!!! It is worth it to me to be able to enjoy an occasional sweet treat using Lakanto while avoiding the SERIOUS damage and guilt that accompanies sugar.

I have been in a search for a good tasting, healthy alternative to sugar, and finally found it! The taste of the typical other choices (stevia, dextrose etc) is not similar enough to sugar to use in most recipes. I have used my first bag of Lakanto for baking and as a sweetener in my coffee and I am hooked. Definitely worth a try and worth the $.

The is absolutely the best sweetener. It is extremely versatile. It sweetens everything, just like sugar.
I don't notice a difference when I use this in baking from regular sugar. I also like the caramel-like flavor. I wish this product was cheaper because I have TONS of friends, family, and co-workers that would buy it but can't afford it. Also I do worry about the erythritol in it because I have heard it is hard on the digestive tract which is what I thought was what body ecology is trying to correct. Even though it says it doesn't cause the symptoms (gas/bloating) I still wonder internally what is happening. I have not followed the body ecology yet but plan to start in 2 weeks and so have huge digestive problems that I can't tell if lakanto irritates it further or not. i have tried other substitutes for sugar in my recipes, lakanto so far seems to be the best substitute to use in place of regular sugar. however, using lakanto in your baked goods recipes does change the texture of your baked goods. i have noticed a reduction in the moisture of the baked goodies and a slight alteration in the taste as well.
I love that there is finally a sweetener that is healthy and that I can bake with! Finally I am not missing anything yummy while keeping a healthy lifestyle. Thank you for Lakanto!!!!

This works great for sweetening hot beverages, baked goods, etc. with no noticeable difference from sugar. I've tried other natural sweeteners (e.g. agave) and always experience the side effects (crash afterwards, etc.). Not with Lakanto!
I have been searching for a sugar substitute and this product gave me what I was hoping for and then some! It is by far the best product of its kind on the market! i do a fair amount of baking and have tried many sweeteners in the pursuit of gluten-free living. can't decide how i feel about lakanto yet-- it is a sweetener for sure but it seems to change the texture to change causing products poof up more. this could be a benefit in some cases-- just another variable to know about. i find there's a subtle change of flavor as well, not metallic like some stevia can be, but the flavor is different. have wondered if the corn component is involved here. it's not unpleasant, just different. and cost is a factor.
This is the best for baking! I love Body Ecology Stevia and it works great in a lot of applications but it just doesn't do the trick when you're baking. My bag of Lakanto is almost gone and I have to order another one. I was worried that it would give me a headache like the supermarket brand version but it didn't. I feel great! I've been making so many yummy treats with it.

I do like to have a couple of things sweetened and I used to use agave syrup but I noticed it bothered my stomach. Lakanto tastes excellent and does not bother mee at all. I tried working with stevia and xylitol for a long time before I finally caved in and sprang for a bag of Lakanto. I never looked back. Stevia in any form (even the powdered leaf) has a weird aftertaste, and xylitol is almost chemically sweet with a disturbing cold sensation in the mouth. Lakanto has a little bit of that cold sensation but the flavor is much fuller. Also it's easier to use in recipes than either stevia or xylitol. I use less Lakanto than the amount of sugar called for, but once you figure out your preference the conversion is easy.

Tastes good.The benefits of fermented sugar cane are not really explained. Is it completely kind to the Pancreas? Tastes good in desserts. But at $10 a cup, it is too expensive to use.

I've been using Lakanto since BED introduced it, and have found it to be a consistently great sugar substitute. I've even converted friends who swore they couldn't give up sugar into Lakanto fans. No bitter aftertaste of Stevia and (unlike xylitol) fermented to reduce digestive reactions. Basically it tastes like brown sugar, so its perfect for baking. My only complaint is the same as everyone else's - the astronomical price. It's especially painful because it used to be both cheaper and in a bigger bag. That being said, I just ordered a new bag. For me, it's pretty crucial to breaking a longstanding sugar addiction.

I personally like Lakanto and I use it for baking things. My husband and my sister in law however get tummy pain from it, even in small doses (like a tea spoon in their coffee).
Tastes like light brown sugar. It doesn't cause gassiness and bloating when eaten like other sugar alcohols. It is pricey so we use it sparingly, but very good for the occasional baked treat!
I have chronic and undiagnosed abdominal pain and digestive problems. Try to stay off sugar but it's a trial for me. This is the first sweetener that has tasted, and can be used, like sugar. It's been a godsend.

I love Lakanto. I use this sweetener when I'm baking pies for my Dad who is diabetic. He loves my pies because he can have more than once piece or a larger piece than if it were made with regular sugar. My husband is also border diabetic and I am encouraging him to use this sweetener instead of regular sugar. Too bad it costs so much because I'd buy more if I had the money.
I absolutely was very upset when I could not order this and it was out of stock. It is the very best tasting sweetner that I have ever used and when cooked with quinoa flakes and ghee it gets really syrupy looking and tasting. I love this stuff. As a matter of fact I ordered two bags this last time because when it was out of stock I almost panicked. You will love it.

I bought this product twice--it's way too expensive! Make sure you know how much 800g really is before you buy it!
This produce is great, tastes good, and works in many things (but does not melt).
In place of this, ZSweet works just as well and costs significantly less (and can get it in some stores). Both products are primarily erythritol, and ZSweet is a tiny bit stevia whereas Lakanto is a tiny bit luo han. (note: Truvia is erythritol and stevia...but it's owned by Coco Cola, so I'd go for other brands first!). You could also buy erythritol on its own and just add a slight bit of stevia to it---you'll save tons of money!
That being said, I love this product, but there's no way I'm paying for it again! I feel it is very misleading to say it is Luo han, when it is mostly erythritol.
The taste is just like sugar but a little sweeter than that. Price is very very expensive. I am satisfied with this product expect price.

I am enjoying the Lakanto sweetener, which has allowed me to broaden my recipe choices. Being a diabetic as well as suffering from severe systemic candida, Lakanto sweetener has put a little sweet back onto my tastebuds. It is there for me to use whenever I convert a recipe to B.E.D.
This is a wonderful tasting product with no aftertaste. I made baked apples, mixing Lakanto and cinnamon - it turned out great. It is a good product to give my diabetic husband some "sweetness" in his diet without all the side effects. I look forward to the time when this product is more affordable so we can use it more often.

The effect of any sweetner, and I've tried all kinds, always make me fall asleep. I don't know why this is, so I've been looking for something that will not affect me. I've tried practically everything with the same result except for Lakanto. I shared it with a friend and she too said that it gave her no fluctuation in mood or otherwise. And it tastes like sugar, without any after taste. Good thing!

I am holding my breath and praying that we don't later find out that there is something unhealthy in Lakanto. I love this stuff. It taste JUST like sugar on my cereal! My wife's cookies melt in your mouth with sugary goodness. I had learned to love stevia, but it wasn't good for every application of sweetness, so now we have the answer.
It's better than Stevia but highly expensive. I buy it when I feel like a splurge. Wish there was something like Stevia that tastes this good.

Overall, I love this product. I bakes like sugar and has a pretty good taste. The only reason it is not excellent is that is is a bit more coarse than sugar so doesn't do well in all recipes. I still buy it by the bulk and use it or stevia.

I received the Lakanto Sweetener on 8/18/2011 and upon looking at the back of the bag noticed it had an expiration date of 10/11/11. I contacted customer service on 8/18/2011 and was told I would receive a refund, but as of 8/29/2011 there has not been a refund nor is there a refund pending. Selling a product with less than two months before expiration is not a good way to run a business. Someone should have checked this before shipping it out. I am very disappointed.

Lakanto is quite good. I tried it last night for the first time on an apply cobbler and served it to company and everyone liked it. It is definitely expensive and there is now a similar variety in the healthfood stores for a bit less and no shipping. I will probably try that next.

Lakanto good, but can have allergic reaction from Corn8/8/11
I do like Lakanto very much. Good product, price is rather high, and I don't like the fact that it's derivied from corn. People who are sensitive to corn may have a reaction to it. So, I am hoping that Lakanto will go to a company that makes it Erthitol from something other than corn like grapes. Most people are not allergic to grapes and grapes are a large crop throught out the US. and the World, so it would be easy to change over I would think. So, that's my thought, please change Erythitol from being made from corn to being made from grapes instead, so it safer to eat for all people.
You cannot buy a better product than Lakanto, it's as sweet as sugar, it has no aftertaste, it retains it sweetness even after cooking with it. And the best part, it has a zero index, no calories, and absolutely does not raise your blood sugar. I was recently in the hospital and used Lankato in my coffee and cereal. The nurse kept poking with the sugar meter and my blood sugar remained at or below 100. The poking was no fun, but the results were nothing less than Wow!!!
I use this in everything from tea to coconut flour muffins to low-carb brownies. It's delicious! It's also nice to sweeten up sour kefir for small children.

I love this product, it bakes well and tastes amazing in baked goods. I did try it with icing and that was way too sweet, so I've going to cut down the amount and maybe substitute stevia instead. I wish Body Ecology would sell this in buik and find a way to reduce the price. This product works so well in cooking. I use it in sauces, muffins, over oatmeal, and even to sweeten my tea although I prefer Stevia in a drink. Would love to see the price go down a bit.

Awesome substitute for sugar!7/13/11
I was looking for a healthy sweetener to replace sugar for my husband who enjoys drinking hot tea. He loves it and it doesn't have that horrible chemical taste you can get from some other alternative sweeteners. My only wish is that it wasn't so expensive. Other than that Lakanto is our favorite!!

The taste is quite good. The main down side is the cost. Quite expensive to us in cooking or baking.
This is by far the best tasting natural sweetener with zero glycemic index impact I have ever tried. I feel good about eating this when I get a sweet tooth craving; it tastes so good I feel like I'm cheating!

I have tried many sugar substitutes. I love Stevia for everything except baked food, and for that Lakanto is the best. I make some delicious sugar free desserts with this great tasting sweetner. LOVE IT!
Works great in coffee and doesn't taste bitter like other sweeteners in hot drinks.

I have been off of sugar and other high glycemic sweeteners for four years now. During this period I have tried every kind of low-glycemic, non-candida feeding sugar there is. Lakanto is better tasting than any of them and it does not have the unwanted side effects of sweeteners like Xylitol. Also it is perfect for baking. Regular Erythritol is pretty good but Lakanto is even better. Lakanto has kept me away from tempting sugary treats many times! I highly recommend it!!! I love making lemonade with sparkling water, lemon juice and Lakanto.
Use it in everything along with the Stevia.

I am a total sugar snob. I hate all sugar substitutes including Stevia. Lakanto tastes like the real thing.
I believe that I've tried every sugar alternative, and this is the only one that doesn't have an aftertaste! I'm picky, and just can't find one in the stores that aren't bitter in coffee. I'm so glad I tried Lakanto.
This is an amazing product and I would recommend it. The only problem with this product is it is very expensive.

This was my first time trying Lakanto and, for the most part, I really liked it. While pricey, it does a nice job substituting for the flavor brown sugar, particularly in baked goods. My one complaint is that it does not dissolve well in cold liquids. At least that is my experience. Because of it's price, I use sparingly, but will purchase again.
I enjoy baking with this and knowing that I'm not giving my family sugar and they're loving it. It is priced a bit high though
This is a great alternative to sugar. I use it to sweeten my iced tea. And I don't feel guilty about using it. Though I do wish it was cheaper.

I was desperate to get off of sugar and chemical sugar substitutes, and my health care provider suggested Lakanto -- and then let me taste it! Wow! I have not baked with it (only because I don't bake), but I use it DAILY in my coffee and tea. It tastes wonderful, and rewards a dash of cinnamon as well. I only wish the price were lower, but I can say that about many things these days! If you can afford it, it's absolutely worth it, and wonderful! I will continue to purchase it regularly.

Lakanto is fantastic, it is one of the only sweeteners we use in my house now. It is fantastic for almost every use including baked goods, and it even tastes great in my morning cup of coffee!

I'm not much of a baker but I did make the caramelized onion recipe using lakanto. I'm a huge fan of stevia but it's nice to have this as another option. I am wondering about the GI effects mentioned above...

I am not a sugar person, but when Lakanto Sweetener was introduced to me I loved it.
I now add a little bit to my coffee and my protein shake in the morning.... yumm-o!!!

I like this stuff a LOT, it taste great, is easy to use and does not not feed the yeast. My only complaint is the cost, $35 bucks a bag, give me a break!

My family really enjoys the taste. I found it very easy to work with and actually have to use less. the price is a little steep .
I love this stuff! I cook and bake for my family all the time and this product has helped me keep them healthy and allows them to enjoy it too! You just need to know how to use it and then it works great.

I love the rich caramel taste lakanto adds to my coffee. I also use it in sauces and dressings...eventually it will replace all the sugar in my home (when the price is lower)! It really tastes so delicious I like it more than sugar!!!!
The best sugar substitute around . It is excellent with hot beverages. Could never use anything else in my coffee without changing taste of coffee..However, I bit pricey.
This is a very high quality sweetener and have been using it for baking and I have had good results. I also use it in my quinoa breakfast porridge as well and it adds just the right amount of sweetness!

This is the greatest sweetner. I had chemical tastes of artificial sweetners. This tastes just like sugar, 0 glycemic, 0 calories, 0 carbs. I use this freely without guilt and without worrying about my health. The answer to "if only there was a good alternative to sugar out there." There is and it is Lakanto! Love it!
Great substitute for sugar with good taste, but it is way too expensive.
I love Lakanto. It's the perfect 1:1 sweetener for making homemade sauces and marinades and adding a little sweetening to beverages. the only drawback is the price.
Another time I ordered Lakanto and received complimentary individual sized travel packets- would love to be able to buy these as well!

Lo Han can be purched on line but as is it is not suitable for baking. I got mine from Advanced Natural(www.advancednaturals.com)
as I have a wholesale account with that company and still it was very expensive. Global Sweets carries the alcohol sugars. I am looking for an alternative sweeter for making jelly. Any suggestions would be appreciated. ja

We really like Lakanto. It works, just as they say, to substitute sugar in baked goods. We found it does not work so well in anything where it should melt, because it does not melt, no matter how long you boil it and cook it. An example is hot chocolate. Just as a response to another review, I quote from the description of the product, "Lakanto is made by fermentation while the other sugar alcohols are made from hydrogenation." It is NOT the same as malitol because of the fermentation. And because of the fermentation, it should not cause the GI side effects. We have never noticed any effects in our family of seven. It would be nice if the website included the product labels, like it did before the site changed. Then people like the above reviewer would be able to see the facts before they buy.

This has helped keep peace in our house. I gradually phased out sugar by combining it with Lakanto and now my kids are happy with the cookies I bake using lakanto and no sugar. I add it to marinades to make sauces as tasty as they were before we gave up sugar.
Just another sugar alcohol5/19/11
I ordered and received Lakanto a few weeks ago. Don't love it. It's just o'kay. I noticed that NOWHERE on this website is the percentage of Erythritol listed. It's 99.8%! Only 0.2% Luo. A little misleading to heavily emphasize Luo, while using so darn little. Bottom line, it's just a super expensive sugar alcohol. With all of the accompanying GI side effects. Except that this one claims to be organic, I can't distinguish the difference between this and maltilol. Wish I had done a little more research before I spent almost $40. I'd like to find a resource for pure Luo and try that without the erythritol. Anyone know where I can get a hold of some?
