So you're committed to achieving optimal health (and fighting any health issues you may be confronted with) and perhaps you've already greatly reduced or completely eliminated sugar because you know it feeds yeast, ages you quickly and leads to all kinds of serious degenerative diseases. But let's face it, there are times when something deliciously sweet is welcomed. Yet, when we do eat it, many of us feel guilty.
We humans should not feel guilty about our desired to enjoy the sweet taste. This desire for sweet-tasting foods and drinks is quite normal. In fact, our very first food, mother's milk, was warm and sweet and we've formed an emotional bond with this taste. Trying to fight and use "willpower" to avoid the desire for the sweet taste is not the answer! That would be a losing battle.
As you know, though, refined white sugar and corn syrup is poison and even natural sweeteners like agave and honey will feed yeast and make our blood more acidic. So what choice do you really have?
Introducing Lakanto, the closest natural sweetener to sugar ever, in terms of its taste and its versatility; but not in terms of the risks it poses to your health! In fact, as you will learn below, quite the contrary.
Imagine being able to (again) make sweet treats for yourself and your family that actually taste like you used sugar, but that won't have the ill effects of sugar. Impossible? Not any longer! We are thrilled to able to bring this wonderful new zero calorie all-natural sweeter that has been extremely popular in Japan to the U.S.
In the past, if you tried to make a "healthy" birthday cake for your child or bake cookies for the holidays, you may have resorted to using agave syrup or honey in your baked goods, feeling that these were better alternatives to sugar; but those natural sweeteners do feed candida and other pathogens.
Unlike sugar and the other natural sweeteners, though, Lakanto does not feed the harmful yeast (candida) and bacteria in your body. Lakanto is even safe for diabetics! And Lakanto, the amazing all-natural sweetener, has:
- Zero calories
- Zero glycemic index
- Zero additives
- No influence on your blood sugar and insulin release
- A one-to-one ratio with sugar -- so it's easy to measure and use
Frequently Asked Question
"I've been searching for something that will help my family eat healthier, but they really don't like the taste of sugar substitutes. Does Lakanto really taste good and is it safe for everyone in my family?"
Answer: Yes, absolutely! Lakanto has been safely enjoyed in Japan for over 10 years. The Japanese Ministry of Health doesn't just approve Lakanto for use in Japan, they actually recommend it for weight loss, obesity and blood sugar problems like diabetes. Lakanto has GRAS status here in the US. In fact, over 9,000 hospitals in Japan serve Lakanto to their patients.
Coincidently, at the very same time that Donna Gates began providing stevia to America, a prominent business man in Japan began a quest to find an even closer substitute for sugar. He owned Saraya Corporation, a company with an excellent reputation for bringing healthy products to the Japanese consumer. In fact, after the war ended Japan was devastated, and besides starvation and homelessness, sanitation was a serious concern. Saraya Corporation introduced a gargling machine that was (and still is) used in schools, businesses, restaurants and hospitals all over Japan. These gargling machines greatly reduced the number of illnesses and even saved countless lives.
Saraya Corporation also became the Japanese leader in environmentally safe cleaning products for personal, home and commercial use. Their excellent products are made with coconut oil. Today Saraya Corporation devotes millions of dollars each year to provide protection and safe homelands to the pygmy elephants living in the regions where their coconuts are harvested.
Mr. Saraya has a deep interest in our children's health so he challenged his team of brilliant researches and scientists to develop the perfect natural sugar substitute. After two and a half years of relentless experimentation, Lakanto was introduced and has now become Japan's third most popular sweetener, behind sugar (and sadly) aspartame. We believe that the synchronicity between Mr Saraya's intentions and Body Ecology's own allowed our worlds to eventually be drawn together, and today Lakanto can be a part of your world as well.
Lakanto is safe for anyone - kids, diabetics, people watching their weight, hypoglycemics, and, of course, anyone with a sweet tooth. And yes, Lakanto gives you the flavor of sugar, without the many downsides.
What is Lakanto Made From?
The two natural ingredients in Lakanto are Non-GMO erythritol and the supersweet extract of the luo han guo fruit. Erythritol is a sugar alcohol naturally found in grapes, pears, mushrooms, soy sauce, cheese, wine and beer, so it and has been part of the human diet for thousands of years.
You may be familiar with other sugar alcohols like xylitol, sorbitol, and malitol used in sugar-free candies and chewing gum. But erythritol is different and much better than these other sugar alcohols because it is fermented. Yes, it is made by fermenting the sugar in corn. Many people have trouble with foods sweetened with sugar alcohols. Diarrhea and gas and bloating are frequent complaints. But Lakanto does not cause diarrhea, gas and bloating. We believe it may be because Lakanto is made by fermentation while the other sugar alcohols are made from hydrogenation.
The Erythritol in our Lakanto is:
- Specially fermented from non-GMO corn so that you know it's safe.
- Naturally low calorie because your body excretes about 90% of it.
- The 10% that remains in your system turns into harmless gases and short chain fatty acids in your large intestine. (NO, Lakanto will NOT cause embarrassing flatulence.)
Erythritol is sweet, but when used alone in a product does not taste like sugar. Only when it was combined with the sweet-tasting and medicinal fruit luo han guo - in a unique patented process - was Saraya able to create an amazing replica of sugar. The exotic luo han guo fruit grows high in the Chinese mountains, in the Guangxi province.
The Chinese have been using luo han guo fruit as a sweetener and natural remedy for years. They dry the fruit, which has a sweet toffee or caramel-like flavor, and use it in teas to ease fever, coughing and phlegm. They even use the tea for digestive troubles. In fact, the Chinese call luo han guo the "longevity fruit," because the people who live where it is cultivated often reach the ripe old age of 100!
Scientists have studied luo han guo and its health benefits extensively, and they've found that this rare fruit has amazing health properties:
- Regulate blood sugar
- Able to prevent and decrease oxidative stress related to diabetes
- Prevent tooth decay
- Inhibit tumor growth
The luo han guo fruit is naturally sweet. In fact, the special extract is 300 times sweeter than sucrose! Because luo han guo extract is sweet without affecting blood sugar, it is perfect for a healthy sugar substitute. Luo han guo extract in Body Ecology's Lakanto has:
- Zero calories. Your body does not break down the unique chemical components of the fruit like other simple sugars and carbohydrates.
- Zero glycemic index. Because your body metabolizes luo han guo differently, your blood glucose and insulin levels do not rise like they do with other sugars.
- Zero additives. Lakanto is made of the natural extract of the luo han guo fruit and erythritol.
Together, the extract of luo han guo and erythritol make one of the best healthy natural sweetener discoveries of the century: Lakanto.
Frequently Asked Question:
"The other natural sweetener you have long recommended, stevia, tastes great in drinks, but not so great in baked goods. Sometimes I like to bake though. Are you sure I can really bake with Lakanto?"
Answer: Lakanto is easy to use and tastes great in all kinds of baked goods because it bakes evenly, unlike most other natural sugar substitutes! The texture of your baked goods will be excellent! When you first taste it right out of the package, you'll notice that Lakanto actually has a flavor that is reminiscent of maple syrup but in a crystal form. It also looks a lot like turbinado sugar, the coarse granulated brown sugar you might have seen in the health food store, but Lakanto has none of the calories or health risks.
You can use Lakanto like you would use regular sugar. In fact, it is a one to one substitute for sugar.
- Looks like sugar
- Tastes like sugar
- Bakes like sugar
- Smells like sugar
Just a few of Lakanto's many other uses include:
- Coffee ( if you must drink it)
- Pumpkin or sweet potato pie

- Quinoa cereal or your favorite cereal - sprinkled on top with cinnamon and butter
Lakanto is a protective sweetener for:
- Growing kids
- Anyone who wants to slow the signs of aging

Really good. Much like sugar. Really handy for the times when stevia doesn't work as well (like baking).
I love this for baking sugar free treats. Has a sweet pleasant taste
Love this product. Will always have it in the pantry.
I love this as a one for one sugar substitute when palm sugar is too dark. Have also ground it fine for use as powdered sugar. Wish it was lots cheaper though.
Great sugar substitute1/17/14
As far as taste and the job of sweetening, this product is great! I'm trusting it does not have an impact on candida- but I know Donna Gates wouldn't put out a product that would.
Fools my taste buds1/10/14
I have paid for just about every sweetner, natural and from the labs of nasty people. So far, and for me there is only ONE true test, does it fool my taste buds into thinking my morning coffee is flavored with good ole sugar. I can stomach sweetners in every other form except that one.. and Lakanto comes through with flying colors. So much that my first $40 package is in serious danger of expiring before the CASE I purchased arrives. Yes, 12 pack case, it's just worth it. I am not that greedy, but to convert others I shall need to put packages in their hands. Once you've used it you'll pay the pusher to get more. It's really that much above the other after-taste leaving lab bred nasty stuff that the big chemical companies kill us with "for our own good" daily. Even if it turns out the stuff will make me grow an extra limb or a 3rd eye somewhere I'm going to keep using it. It's fantastic.. it's evil expensive but fantastic!
It is by far the best option for replacing sugar. It reacts the same in baking goods. I love this product!
I never got my order!
Great product, but didn't get it1/2/14
I love lakanto! Unfortunately, Body Ecology removed it from my order - I guess they didn't have any? :-(
hard to review when I never received it!!!1/1/14
I ordered this 1 December 2013 and have yet to receive it, or at the least be told why I have not received it--and I have sent an email asking about it AND my credit card was charged!!!
Not so happy:(
Excellent LOVE it! 1/1/14
This is the BEST sugar substitute I've ever tried! No other sugar compares to Lakanto. It looks like sugar with absolutely NO after taste like all other sugar substitutes do. It also has the same sweetness like sugar. It maybe expensive but worth every penny! I will never buy anything but Lakanto! Buy it, you will not regret it!
Tastes great and is good in so many foods12/31/13
Lakanto sugar is a delicious sugar substitue. I have made sugar cookies with it and they were really delicious. I think it has sort of a maple syrup taste. I look forward to trying Lakanto in other recipes. Thank you, Donna, for bringing this product to us!!
This product has changed my life!!! i have candida and can not consume any regular sugar
A kitchen staple for me12/27/13
I really like Lakanto. I use different sweeteners for different foods; mainly local raw honey and coconut palm sugar. I like to use Lakanto when I feel I've been excessive with sugar, or when I want a "not too sweet" taste. It is PERFECT with hazelnut milk, dark cocoa powder, vanilla, and cinnamon - the perfect hot cocoa!
Delicious, amazing replacement for sugar12/16/13
I used this amazing product to make some pumpkin muffins and was delightfully suprised by how well balanced the flavor was. I was expecting the "cool" or "minty" tendency of the erythritol to be prominent however it was not. What a lovely option for those avoiding the damaging aspects sugar.
It has worked well for us as a safer alternative to sugar.
Laksa to is a good sweetener foe coffee and teas.
A great no-sugar sweetener12/9/13
Love Lakanto Sweetener! It's the best no-sugar sweetner to have crossed my path. I use it in my hot almond milk chocolate on cold winter nights and it dissolves perfectly. I can't tell that it is not real sugar.
Taste better than sugar12/2/13
You can even bake with it
Great sugar substitute12/2/13
With lakanto, we can have delicious sweets without using sugar.
Sweetener was delicious, if VERY expensive12/1/13
Made a Chocolate Pecan torte that was divine and did not negatively impact my waistline.
Way too expensive!11/29/13
I purchased this as our family can not stand the taste of Stevia (know it's natural, but it tastes unnatural to us), while it tastes good, you have to use a ton to get a sweet taste and so the cost does not out weight the benefit - you're better off purchasing Erythritol as this is all Lakanto is, (only don't purchase Emerald Forest's as they are owned by a Pharm company and probably use GMO corn...). Totally suckered in on this product and very disappointed, we went through this $35.00 bag in about 2 wks, HORRIBLE waste of money. Hence the two stars.
This is a great substitution for sugar!
Great sweetener using it a lot11/22/13
I love the sweetener. It cooks just like sugar without all the side effects.
It is exactly like white sugar. It tastes perfect like white sugar too. It is VERY PRICEY. Pls would you think of people who have health problem and cannot afford it? God bless you.
It tastes delicious! It is exactly same as sugar. It did not cause me feeling light head. WHOOHOO! But it is VERY PRICEY! Please would you think abt changing to lower price for ppl who cant afford and have health issues? Pls think of people's sake. God bless you. :)
Great for baking!11/19/13
I made an apple crisp with this last week and it turned out amazing!
If you want to get off sugar this is so great for that transition. We go through one or two a month it's that good.
Fantastic Sugar Substitute11/13/13
I am ecstatic about this sugar replacement! I can bake with it, cook with it and best of all? My husband has not been able to detect the fact that I have made this substitution. I will purchase again. The only downside is the expense though!!!
It was hard to find this product in google11/12/13
This product is very good but it was hard to find it in google, i found it on 15 spot. You should add some social bookmarks and your website will hit google top10 very soon, then your traffic and sales will double or even triple. Search in google for - Insane google ranking boost - it helped my sites to rank
I love Lakanto. Along with chia seeds you can make a delicious jam. You only need half the amt of sugar. No after taste.
Heaven for a BED follower11/12/13
I heard about Lakanto, and was keen to try it. Up to now I've used Stevia as my sweetener, which is OK but doesn't give the same results as sugar. I tried Xylitol, but it didn't feel right for my body - lots of wind, and it felt like poison. I had a friend in the US post me 2 packets of Lakanto, and WOW, I'm so excited. My husband has been making some BED-friendly Crème Brulee with the Lakanto, and I've been using it in smoothies, and it's so much like sugar, but is permitted on BED diet!!!! Woohoo!!!! What a find - I couldn't be happier with the results from it, and the taste. It's like being in Heaven.
Can't live without it.11/10/13
I bake non wheat cookies with lakanto, I use it in my espresso, I use it on hot cereal, in baked beans, etc. I like the taste. I have trouble with stevia, it's got an aftertaste that I can't tolerate, but lakanto is like using real sugar. I really love it.
Can't live without it...11/9/13
I love lakanto, it tastes just as good as sugar does-actually it's better because there is no guilt. When I run out my coffee just is not the same. I could not say enough great stuff about this product. I just wish it was cheaper the price is pretty ridiculous, it's too bad I'm hooked!
great product, quick delivery10/31/13
I purchased this sweetener based on recommendations found in the book. I am please with the purchase, my kids love it, my mom that is diabetic is using it as well. No complaints.
Hope the price will come down in future...
Sweet but doesn't cook as well as real sugar. Still a good alternative.
Excellent Sugar Substitute10/27/13
I've used Lakanto Sweetener for several years and love to sprinkle it on fresh fruit and hot or cold cereals. Lakanto has a hint of brown sugar taste -- perfect to top amaranth, oatmeal, or quinoa. I do not use Lakanto in baked goods because I've found it doesn't dissolve.
What a blessing!10/25/13
I am so thrilled to find Monk Fruit extract in a form that is so easy and delicious to use. I have gone through one 800 gram package, using it mainly to sweeten tea, and grains I eat for breakfast, and have had absolutely no side effects and the taste is wonderful. What a blessing not to have to worry about the side effects of white sugar and other sweeteners. Thank you.
AWESOME LAKANTO SWEETENER10/24/13
I am so happy that we have Lakanto with zero calories!! It tastes perfectly! I would love to help people who have diabetic and problem health. But, I am disappointed that is VERY EXPENSIVE! It needs to get less price so people can afford for their health sake! Please would you think about it for people's sake? We would be appreciate very much! God bless you! :)
My father-in-law is diabetic, but loves sweets. He has been really excited to be able to have a cookie or piece of pie without my overly watchful eye.
This is a superior product10/5/13
By Aunt Bob
I have used this product for several years, baking cookies, banana bread, herbal ice teas, etc.
I like the brown in recipes where brown sugar is called for and have just recently started to use the white but have had excellent results.
Great taste but pricey10/5/13
I love this sweetener! I've used it in salad dressings, tea, mostly raw desserts and baked cookies and it always gives the food a nice sweet flavor with no aftertaste. It is a bit pricey but hopefully the price will come down! Also, I've had great service ordering Lakanto from the Body Ecology site - I received my order within days of placing it.
I love this stuff9/30/13
I love the lakanto for a sugar substitute - I just wish it wasn't so expensive. I prefer the dark in baking as it is more like brown sugar and adds more flavor to neutralize the bitterness of the allowed gluten free flours. It's also nice for sprinkling on popcorn or hot grains.
Okay this stuff is awesome! Works just like sugar in baking, smoothies, tea! Love it!!!
bad side effects9/29/13
I have tried Lakanto twice. The first time I liked it but soon had terrible head pain, in my cheekbones and in and behind my eyes, and the front part of my head. I could barely comb my hair for the pain. The only thing I could deduce was the Lakanto so I stopped using it and the pain stopped. I forgot about them and started using Lakanto again, to get back on a healthier track. The head pain came back. I am very curious to know if anyone else has had this reaction, to anything.
I use Lakanto when baking, especially in the blueberry buckwheat pancakes I make for my family every Sunday.
I like this product so far - haven't used it that much yet, but the taste is excellent.
Worth every penny! Best low carb/cal sweetener I've ever tried.
A staple in our house9/19/13
Lakanto Sweetner has become a staple in our household. We use it for healthy gluten free cookies and bars. I can't wait to try the white variety.
I am coming back to Lakanto after trying several other erythritol products on the market. Lakanto tastes the best to me.
It tastes pretty good. I also wonder about how healthy it is and how gut friendly it is.
Ordering from your company is another story. I have waited months for some products and gotten different stories every time I call. Customer service gets a zero.
Good Natural Sugar Sub. but Very Pricey9/7/13
Excellent natural sugar substitute - no "under-taste" like stevia. Love with grapefruit and on cereal. Really great to get that sweet flavor when you are trying to avoid all forms of sugar. Hopefully the price with come down - ridiculously expensive.
This product is expensive, but it's the closest thing you'll ever get to real sugar. If you can afford it, I highly recommend it.
Diagnosed with diabetes 3 years ago, using sugar subs but not liking it. Tastes like chemicals. This looks and feels like sugar. And tastes like sugar. Was able to make my mom's meringue cookies which I was unable to do with any of the artificial baking products on the market. The gastric problems experienced by some are probably from the sugar alcohols. I don't use it a lot, originally bought the brown sugar and just purchased the white. Going to make my jalapeno pepper jelly with it so I can have some. Thanks! However, I would like to see more info about how it's made and any research on it.
This is a great non-sugar sweetener. Hope that we can get the white version from BE soon.
happy with it8/22/13
No aftertaste ..no chemicals to destroy my neuro system ..no digestive problems. I love everything about it but the price. Since I use it for everything it doesn't last nearly long enough.
I love this sweetener. It's a little crunchy sometimes, but never a problem. So excited to find more non-glycemic choices for sweeteners. We like it so much better than stevia for baking, never an aftertaste. We use it in baked goods, sprinkled on nuts before toasting; most everything that we need a sweetener for. Still use Stevia in coffee or tea, but could easily switch to this. Great stuff.
Love this stuff use it for everything that I would normally use sugar for.
I love it . My husband uses it to make freezer jam. It works great; the jam tastes like fresh fruit..
I love this product! 7/31/13
By Julia P
i wish i could just buy things made with Lakanto instead of sugar!
Not bad - but is is healthy7/30/13
This is good - quite sweet tasting, but tastes natural, like a light brown sugar flavor. My only concern is how healthy it is - and I doubt something that tastes this sweet is all natural or completely healthy, so I choose to eat it in moderation (rarely)
Great sweetener, but...7/27/13
I have read all of the product description and a lot of the other reviewers comments. I was glad that I was not the only one that experienced digestive upset after eating Lakanto. I am hoping with continued use, as stated by other users, that my symptoms will improve because of the Luo Han.
tastes the best7/20/13
Lakanto tastes the best of all the healthy zero calorie sweeteners. It has a very pleasant almost "maple syrup" type of flavor. I always have some on hand. My friends love it too.
Best sugar substitute!6/21/13
Great sugar sub, tastes like real sugar! Haven't found anything even close to the taste. Wish it were less expensive, but it's definitely worth it!
We sprinkle a tablespoon over fresh strawberries. Hard to believe it is not sugar.
Love it over fresh strawberries
Worth Every Penny6/10/13
Lakanto is an excellent product with a taste that is very satisfying. Used in various ways such as sweetening hot beverages, baking, salad dressing and yogurt desserts - it is by far the best alternative to sugar ... for all the reasons stated on this website ... and more!
This is the best sweetener!6/4/13
I am a diabetic and I have been searching for natural sweeteners for awhile. I cannot use Stevia because for a variety of reasons so Lacanto was a Godsent product! This amazing very low calorie sweetener does not have the bitter aftertaste of other sweeteners, it withstands heat, it has a pleasant taste reminding of maple syrup - but not overpowering - and it is not prohibitively expensive! The best part is that Lacanto has pure Luo Han Guo extract as an ingredient, a very expensive product by itself; so the 'marriage' between the Erythritol and Luo Han Guo gives us a superior product at an affordable price. But there is even a GREATER benefit that surprised me: its ANTI-INFLAMATORY quality! The amount of Luo Han Guo in Lacanto is apparently sufficient to remove the arthritis pain from my joints and make them flexible again! Thank you, Donna Gates!
works really good as a sugar substitute6/1/13
Best tasting alternative to sugar.
Perfect for baking5/31/13
I love this product and use it for baking. I think it tastes sweeter than sugar!
By Mike G
This is a great sweetener!!! Our kids love it!!!
Just letting those know that this is a super healthy product. Luo Han is certainly one of the top healthiest sugars if you have a sweet tooth and wish to remain in good health, definitely give it a go.
I will advise that like Xylitol, Luo Han has some anti fungal and anti viral attributes which are great for your health. However, you may have a detox reaction if you have "bugs" in your gut. While it may be uncomfortable at first, as you regain your health and get rid of the bugs, this should go away.
A bit pricey, but it's a great tasting sweetener.
This is the 2nd bag I've purchased and because of the price i had gone out and tried so many other sweeteners and none of them could pass the test of this product. It taste like real sugar and has no nasty after taste also you really don't need to use a lot so it last longer. Also its the only one that didn't upset my stomach.
Good sugar replacement5/20/13
This is a good sugar replacement, but super expensive. Not sure I can re-order with the price.
Gave me stomach problems5/19/13
Beware of the erythritol in this product. It doesn't sit well with a lot of people and certainly not me. However, I have similar reactions to xylitol.
Great for baking5/18/13
Love this as a sugar substitute in baking and for for pork brine.
feel strange if I eat too much of it5/15/13
I just noticed a strange feeling when I woke up today and the only new thing I had been eating was the Lakanto. I'm very sure it's the Lakanto making me feel wierd. Felt fine after a few glasses of water and some spicy food that seamed to wash it away. I'm going to use the rest of the bag sparingly.
Love the taste5/11/13
The taste is wonderful, and I enjoy using it every day, but it will be a hard decision as to whether I should order it again because of the steep price.
It's wonderful to have a decadent bite once in a while without it doing harm!5/8/13
It tastes so good that my husband is finally using Lakanto. We just wish the product was more mainstream and in products we can buy locally.
Good sugar alternative5/7/13
By busy mom
I can taste a little difference with Lakanto, so I use less than the 1:1 ratio. It is a little sweet.
Good product but4/20/13
I have just started using it and so far am satisfied with the product. What i am not satisfied with, however, is that it is advertised as being calorie free. It has 4 grams of carbs which are equivalent to 16 calories. Therefore, this is not a zero calorie product. That is the same number of calories 1 tsp of sugar has. Of course, there are other reasons to use it but don't use it as a calorie saver instead of sugar
great replacement for sugar4/19/13
I had tried using stevia powder and liquid for a sugar replacement in baking without success. I recently used the same amount of lakanto to replace sugar and it worked perfectly. Cookies taste great and no abuse to my pancreas.
love the tast4/17/13
I have used this for many years in place of sugar. It tastes just like rich brown sugar. You can bake with it or sprinkle in things and no one will no the difference.
we use daily4/17/13
We use lakanto for baking and hot drinks and it works fabulously. It is very sweet and only takes a little.
I love Lakanto in my tea and coffee and recipes. The only thing I don't like is the price. I would order it more if it was not so expensive!
This product is such an amazing sugar replacement! It does have an interesting "cooling effect" and does have a sort of maple taste. It truly is delicious and tastes so much like sugar. Unfortunately for me, it does have 2 downsides: 1) It's a little too amazing. I found myself wanting to make "sugary" treats all of the time with it. 2) It is so expensive. I feel guilty ordering it again. So in short, if you have loads of money and don't have a crazy sugar/carby addiction order it! You will not be sorry! It tastes way better than Stevia!
Love this product, I feel you need to add more than regular sugar to obtain the same sweetness level.
Too Expensive with available alternatives 4/12/13
At $20+ a pound it is way too expensive! It taste good, but there must be price gauging going on for it to be this expensive. Not worth the price when you have other all natural alternatives like shügra that have the same great taste and even prevent tooth decay and inflammation for less than 1/2 the price.
Love this stuff!4/10/13
Love this product! It's the closest tasting to sugar that I've found. It's kind of pricey, but hopefully the prices will go down eventually. It's great to have desserts without the guilt!
Great don't need to use to much and it taste great
Finally a tasty sugar alternative!4/4/13
Lakanto is truly a wonderful, tasty alternative to sugar, and the other sugar alternatives out there. I also LOVE the fact that the corn is sourced as non-GMO. This is definitely my sugar alternative of choice.
I really like this product. My whole family enjoys the "treats" i make with this sugar. It tastes similar to brown sugar.
Excellent product, I will always use it! Perfect sugar substitute.4/2/13
This is the perfect sugar substitute and it tastes and feels just like sugar. It is actually healthy for you. I am so thankful that I am able to buy this product and not have to poison my body with sugar anymore. Thank you for making this available.
Since we started using Lakanto for our primary sweetner our kids don't even ask for sugar any more.
Great Substitute 3/21/13
There is no better sugar substitute than Lakanto, No aftertaste, no chemical taste, It is the best bar none.
By judy towner
I love the product. It fits all my needs perfectly. I will not be able to purchase it again because of the price. I will miss it.
Lakanto Rocks! Best sugar replacement ever. If you have never had it, there are two significant differences between this and sugar to be aware of. 1. There is a cooling effect as the Lakanto melts onto your tongue. This is really no big deal and easy to get adjusted to, but is different from sugar. 2. The price is much higher than sugar. Other than that I am confident that you will find Lakanto to be a perfect replacement for sugar. I really can't say enough good things about this product!
The best sugar substitute that I have ever found. I still can't believe it's sugar free and has zero calories. I wish it was not so expensive though. it's the most expensive sugar I have ever payed for but worth it for zero calories and no side effects.
Perfect Sugar Substitute3/9/13
I use Lakanto as my go-to sugar substitute. While it is delicious sweetening my tea, it is the perfect sweetener in baked goods and even healthier versions of candy - made a delicious healthier version of peanut butter cups using it. It's the best!
Good, not quite as sweet as I thought it was going to be.
Love it. 2/27/13
We love it and can't live without having it in stock at our house.
This is a great sugar substitue that can be used in anything. I've used it in baked goods, salad dressings, and even the occassional cup of coffee. I have also used it along with Tamari as a substitute for Worcestershire sauce.
Disappointed in a corn-based product2/1/13
For those who follow the blood type diet protocols, I think I am correct in remembering that not a single bloodtype can do corn, and it is one very difficult food to avoid, as it is in everything! It would be hard to know if the fermentation process destroys the corn lectins responsible for blood agglutinization---who can answer that one?? I would be much happier to have the source of the erythritol come from one of the other sources mentioned, which, ironically, no one ever makes erythritol from! It's always corn. But they tout pears & mushrooms and such. I'm not convinced that this huge allergen and universal problem lectin is annihilated in this product. Also, the makers of Splenda have come out with an identical product called Nectresse August 2012.
Great sugar substitute!2/1/13
I love this product! I think it tastes like "sugar in the raw". I use it in baking, coffee and just about everything that calls for sugar. I don't have sugar in my my cabinet since I started using this. I do wish you could buy it in larger quantities.
This product is great for satisfying my sugar cravings without the worry of detrimental effects. I eat straight spoonfuls of it and it really satisfies the sugar craving. A must for anyone on the diet!
I was surprised when I opened the bag just how much Lakanto smells and tastes like brown sugar! It tastes amazing!
very good sugar substitute1/8/13
This is the only sweetener I've found that tastes good and doesn't cause blood sugar swings or contribute to a yeast feast. The only drawback is that it is very expensive!!!!!
I use this product as a substitute for piloncillo when making my Mexican baked goods. It is a great and healthy alternative!
I substituted the exact amount of Lakanto for sugar called for in the cookie recipe I was making. This worked perfecty. No one could tell the difference! And it tasted great! I will definitely be buying more.
Lakanto is great for baking1/2/13
This is a fantastic product for baking with and knowing it is healthy as well.
This product is pricey, but definitley worth it! I've made many recipes and my kids love it!
I really love Lakanto Sweetener! I have been looking extensively for a substitute, since my body doesn't do well with sugar or other sweeteners. I did feel some intestinal bloating, but I haven't felt that in a long time. Maybe there is a period of time for the body to adjust. I use it mostly in my smoothies. Thank you!
,Lacanto, a sugar replacement product12/26/12
It is a fantastic product, if you are looking for a product that is as versatile as sugar. It tastes great, and does not have any bitter after taste. I can't believe this isn't "real" sugar, will surely come to mind, when first tasting it!
Although not cheap, this is very sweet and delicious. The texture and flavor provides a perfect alternative to sugar.
I love Lakanto. This is the perfect product. There's nothing like the peace of mind that comes from using a product that is healthy from from whatever angle you look at it.
By Pam R
One of our favorite "alternative" sweeteners. Does well in everything we've tried thus far. I tend to stock up because it is often difficult to obtain.
excelent alternative sweeter12/16/12
Nice sweet, but costly12/15/12
Has a wonderful flavor and tastes very much like maple sugar. However, one seems to need to use a whole lot in a recipe to match the sweetness of even stevia. Like using vanilla stevia in drinks -- don't know if I'll buy again, as the price is way too high. My big question is, how come other companies aren't selling it and will the cost go down once it becomes more popular?
Lakanto sweetner yum12/15/12
Really enjoy the sweentness for holiday baking. Does not do well in homemade caramels. Very grainy weird texture. I really like this product:)
By Healthy mama
We love Lakanto. It has been a tasty way to add a little sweetness to my daughter's pancakes or into baked goods for our low/non- sugar diet!
We love the taste of Lankanto for replacing sugar in our diet. Lankanto tastes similar to brown sugar and is great for baking..tastes just like sugar.
Terrific in sauces that need a sweetener12/12/12
Lakanto is the ultimate sugar substitute because not only is it natural and healthy (low glycemic and zero calories), but it does not have a taste that adversely affects the foods you are preparing to eat. We use it in sauces that need to be sweetened, and the taste is not altered, as it is in some other sugar substitutes. Thank you, Lakanto!
Lakanto is a staple around our house. Especially during the holidays.
Tastes pretty good!12/2/12
I really like the Lakanto because it bakes up so well. I have to reduce it in a recipe because it's quite sweet to me but I love it because it doesn't taste like a sugar substitute.
This product is wonderful! I use it in all of my baked goods. Tastes like real sugar.
I love this product for baking sugar free cookies.
By medicine woman
Finally something that tastes good in baked
goods! We are diabetics and highly recommend this for people who shouldn't eat sugar.
gave me bloating and gas12/1/12
It is an alcohol sugar, which is not disclosed when you buy it. Very disappointed in the marketing. Thought it would be a great sugar substitute. There are none!
I love, love, love Lakanto for the tiny bit of sugar I use.
Good substitute for Sugar11/26/12
Although Lakanto is expensive for a sugar substitute, I don't need much and it satifies the craving for the sugar taste.
Lakanto is the only non-sugar sweetener that I like in hot beverages. Is also fabulous for baking ...tasted like brown sugar in my apple pie! It's pricey, but worth the cost since I can't have sugar.
I use equal replacement for sugar11/20/12
I can not tell the difference. I use it when I need a little sugar or when baking.
You dont have to use much of this product it is great.
Lacanto is a wonderful sugar substitute. I love it but don't understand why it is so expensive. I treat it like granular gold.
By far, the best natural sweetener available. Plan to share some in attractive containers over the holidays.
I love this product - it is the ideal sugar substitute. Almost too good to be true! Tastes as good as sugar.
The joy of having baked goods that are yeast free is so satisfying. The flavor is much more palatable for baking than stevia. The only unpleasant aftertaste I've noticed is a slight numbing feeling in the mouth with some muffins and chocolate bar creations.
This sugar substitute hasn't felt like I have substituted anything.
By medicine woman
Best non sugar sweetener there is.
Great for baking.
Didn't agree with me10/24/12
I was so excited to receive the Lakonto in the mail and to start experimenting with it. When it arrived I decided to have some in a mug of hot tea as I hadn't had sweetened tea in some time. The taste was o.k. I still felt it do a strange thing to my tonge though not unlike what stevia does in my mouth. Then a short time afterward I was feeling queasy and my stomoch was upset. I directly linked this with the Lakanto since I hadn't had anything else to eat. I have been hesitant to try it again as the feeling was quite uncomfortable. I took my bag of Lakonto with me when I went to visit my mother in law who happens to be a diabetic. I decided to make some banana bread for her and I got rave reviews from 2 people on that bread. They didn't seem to have any adverse affects from it. I guess I should try it again and perhaps in something I have baked rather than in tea and see if I have the same reaction. If it works for you it is probably a pretty good product and option.
Lakanto is an excellent sweetner for cooking; it will not create a bitter after taste as many powdered stevia products do. It has full body flavor which taste great in morning coffee!
I hace candida so it is a God send for me!
good, but expensive10/19/12
By BE fan
Really like Lakanto but for the price.
I use this at least 3-4 days a week and I love the flavor and it works great to substitute it for sugar!
Great sweetener option10/18/12
This is a great sweetener option, especially for those of us who don't tolerate stevia very well!
Good to Excellent10/15/12
I used the product to make a coffee cake.
I used measurements based on the actual recipe, which I have made for years. I thought
it was extremely sweet. I do not think it is eqivalent to the sugar measurement. Need to use less. I have not used it in a recipe since.
best yet rating by a very picky coffee drinker!10/15/12
My partner refuses to use replacement sweetners as they either have after taste, or mutilate the original coffee flavor. However, Lakanto has proven to be the exception.
Would that it be less expensive... !
He does use it faithfully.
The only choice10/12/12
The best thing i can say about Lakanto is that my body likes it. No spike in insulin and the resulting low blood sugar.
I love it. It's better than sugar 10/5/12
It tastes like the best sugar ever.
Particularly good sprinkled on top of something.
Kids "Yes", Hubby "No"10/4/12
I liked that this product had a VERY similar appearance to the unbleached sugars we have used. The kids and I did not discern a noticible difference in the taste. My husband, however, did. He used it to sweeten his tea. Complaining of a terrible aftertaste, he has not touched it since. And though I was not bothered by the taste, the price of this product is a huge deterrent for budget reasons.
We love lakanto10/3/12
My husband uses lakanto instead of sugar every morning in his tea or coffee. It is amazing and has a great taste. We love that it is zero calories and tastes great too.
This sweetener is absolutely delicious and has no aftertaste.

Excellent replacement for Stevia for my coffee! It's the best I've found.
great but expensive9/18/12
By Autism mom
Its a great choice for baked goods, especially with almond flour. It helps us survive birthday parties and special events.
Love Lakanto! Have been using it for six years.9/15/12
I'd like to tell my Canadian and Swiss friends about it, but it's not available there. If more people could buy it, perhaps the price could come down.
Best Substitute Sugar9/15/12
One for one substitute. I use it anywhere it ask's for sugar in my recipe's.
Will continue to use Lakanto. 9/12/12
So far I have used Lakanto in 3 desserts. The key lime pudding recipe and the chocolate mousse recipe from the Lakanto Cookbook and my version of chocolate chip cookies. I was satisfied with the sweetness of the Lakanto in all the recipes. I missed the homemade taste you get with butter and sugar as it carmelizes in cookie recipes. I used real butter, just refrigerated the dough before baking to prevent the cookies from spreading like the Lakanto Cookbook had warned, but it didn't give that butter /sugar chemical reaction flavor. But, I would still bake them again because they did satisfiy my sweet tooth and I actually liked them better the more I ate them. As for the key lime pudding recipe; it wasn't the Lakanto's fault. That recipe was terrible. The chocolate mousse recipe was better , especially when I made the whipped cream with the Lakanto (which was really good) then folded it all into the chocolate mousse.
Tastes like brown sugar 9/3/12
MY KIDS LOVE IT!!!!!!! "It takes like brown sugar mom. We've used 1/2 the bag - can we order some more?" I was out of town when they first received it :-)
This has a great taste, and to think it's actually good for my body!9/3/12
Thank you for making this sugar substitute available. It's wonderful to be able to feel good about using something with a sweet taste.
Glad to finally find something I can bake with. Still experimenting. So far so good.
Plus it doesn't give my coffee a weird taste!
I can't eat it. Doesn't agree with me.8/28/12
I had a physical reaction to the sweetener. I made the zucchini muffin recipe and ate 2 of them. Later that evening I awoke to itching arms from the elbow down to the hands. I hadn't eaten anything new other than this sweetener. I also have been sensitive to corn in the past, but have never had this type of reaction. I think it's the corn sensitivity - perhaps the fermentation of it.
My new best friend sweetner!!!8/26/12
Love the Lakanto! It is worth the expense! It truly is great on cereal as well as baking or in coffee! There is absolutely no aftertaste that even Splenda has, and it's sweeter in baking goods than Spelenda. Love this stuff!!!
Lakanto is surprisingly tasty. It just puts my mind at easy that the whole family is not using artificial sweeteners.
Its not super sweet, but its not bad. Doesn't have an aftertaste which is very nice.
Pricey, but delicious!!! It is worth it to me to be able to enjoy an occasional sweet treat using Lakanto while avoiding the SERIOUS damage and guilt that accompanies sugar.
Love this stuff!8/21/12
I have pre-diabetes and am constantly looking for a sugar alternative. Lakanto (and the Stevia product) does the job and my last lab results showed the best glucose numbers I have ever had. Thanks for such great products.
I had to stop eating sugar as my glucose levels were rising. I discovered Lakanto and we all love it in our family. I use it just like sugar; it is a perfect substitute.
really love lakanto8/20/12
I really like lakanto sweetner. I used it on oatmeal and have also used it with baked goods. I am very satisfied with it.
Great substitute for sugar. It tastes and just like sugar. I am looking forward to baking with it.
I use lakanto for baking and making ice cream. It is the best sugar substitute available.
I am thrilled to finally use a sweetener that tastes great and doesn't feed yeast candida. Thank you for making this product available to all!
Lakanto is Great!6/15/12
I love this stuff. It's so great for baking, since it measures equally, making it so much easier to convert recipes.
The zero glycemic impact is fabulous for including all diabetics when making treats.
Most of all, the taste is better than any sugar substitute I've tried.
I love this stuff!6/11/12
This is the best for baking that I've ever tried!
Love this stuff!
Couldn't live without it!6/1/12
Have been using Lakanto for several months now and I no longer miss sugar-- but nor do I feel deprived of sweets!
I love the taste of this stuff. and I like the fact that it's fermented, so I'm better able to digest it.
My daughter cooked up all sorts of good stuff for Mother's Day. The only sweetener she used was Lakanto and it was great.
I love Lakanto!5/14/12
By Healthy Mama
This is a life saver. We use it instead of maple syrup on pancakes and my daughter loves it! It has been a tremendous sugar substitute. Tastes great and is healthy! I highly recommend it.
Great sugar alternative5/14/12
I have been in a search for a good tasting, healthy alternative to sugar, and finally found it! The taste of the typical other choices (stevia, dextrose etc) is not similar enough to sugar to use in most recipes. I have used my first bag of Lakanto for baking and as a sweetener in my coffee and I am hooked. Definitely worth a try and worth the $.
Excellent product to go with coffee5/12/12
I use lacanto for cooking and for my coffee everyday love it can't live without it
Can't live without it!5/12/12
By Stephy E.
I order this product over and over. It tastes delicious and is worth the extra $.
I love this product in my coffee, although I shouldn't be drinking it,but is an alternitive to the old creamers full of sugar. It also has great flavor in some sauce reductions I have for salmon!
Loved the taste & the zero calories5/7/12
I have not found a better substitute for sugar with zero calories. The taste is great and few if anyone can tell it that it isn't sugar. Big thumbs up.
The best sweetener5/6/12
The is absolutely the best sweetener. It is extremely versatile. It sweetens everything, just like sugar.
I don't notice a difference when I use this in baking from regular sugar. I also like the caramel-like flavor. I wish this product was cheaper because I have TONS of friends, family, and co-workers that would buy it but can't afford it. Also I do worry about the erythritol in it because I have heard it is hard on the digestive tract which is what I thought was what body ecology is trying to correct. Even though it says it doesn't cause the symptoms (gas/bloating) I still wonder internally what is happening. I have not followed the body ecology yet but plan to start in 2 weeks and so have huge digestive problems that I can't tell if lakanto irritates it further or not. I got this information from Dr. Mercola
I love this product. To me it tastes just like sugar without any side effects. Will buy again.
I love, love, love this sugar substitute. It taste wonderful and baking with it is great...
having fun trying it out in recipes .A bit pricey but better than anything else I've tried!
This is a great alternative to using sugar and other artificial sweeteners in just about anything. Great taste and no aftertaste.
the best substitute around for regular sugar4/18/12
By healthy choices
i have tried other substitutes for sugar in my recipes, lakanto so far seems to be the best substitute to use in place of regular sugar. however, using lakanto in your baked goods recipes does change the texture of your baked goods. i have noticed a reduction in the moisture of the baked goodies and a slight alteration in the taste as well.
I love that there is finally a sweetener that is healthy and that I can bake with! Finally I am not missing anything yummy while keeping a healthy lifestyle. Thank you for Lakanto!!!!
I have been searching for a sugar substitute and this product gave me what I was hoping for and then some! It is by far the best product of its kind on the market! Tastes great, zero glycemic AND doesn't feed candida! Even my husband likes it, and he is less than excited about any alternative food I give him. I'm buying the biggest bag this time!
Sweet without the side effects!4/12/12
This works great for sweetening hot beverages, baked goods, etc. with no noticeable difference from sugar. I've tried other natural sweeteners (e.g. agave) and always experience the side effects (crash afterwards, etc.). Not with Lakanto!
Lakanto is the best sugar substitute on the market and I think I've tried them all.It bakes and tastes just like sugar with a bit of a maple like accent and no artificial or bitter after taste.
i do a fair amount of baking and have tried many sweeteners in the pursuit of gluten-free living. can't decide how i feel about lakanto yet-- it is a sweetener for sure but it seems to change the texture to change causing products poof up more. this could be a benefit in some cases-- just another variable to know about. i find there's a subtle change of flavor as well, not metallic like some stevia can be, but the flavor is different. have wondered if the corn component is involved here. it's not unpleasant, just different. and cost is a factor.
I really like lakanto4/8/12
This is my favorite sweetner over stevia and xyliol. The only problem is that it is very expensive and I can't always buy it because of other priorities. Please let me know if there are any specials on this product or any price reductions.
This is Awesome Stuff!4/8/12
Lakanto is a life saver! I am having such fun trying it in various recipes, old and new! I have so many friends and family members that struggle with Type 2 diabetes and this has given them a whole new food group to love again!
This is the best for baking! I love Body Ecology Stevia and it works great in a lot of applications but it just doesn't do the trick when you're baking. My bag of Lakanto is almost gone and I have to order another one. I was worried that it would give me a headache like the supermarket brand version but it didn't. I feel great! I've been making so many yummy treats with it.
Addresses my sugar craving!4/7/12
Love this product but wish that we could tell everyone about it so that demand would go up and the price would go down! As soon as I got this in the mail, I made my favorite hot drink and felt immediately SO satisfied for the first time in months since I have been on the BED.
Fantastic product! Love it!!!! Highly recommend!
This is by far the best alternative to sugar I have ever used. It can even be heated without developing an off or bitter taste
Nice maple smell and good taste, excellent for baking.
I love Innergy Biotic! The taste is unique and
delicious. I limit myself to 4 oz a day but honestly I would like to drink half a bottle it is so good. A natural source of microflora and an fabulous drink.
I really like how Lakanto can be used for baking. Also, I can trust Body Ecology to carry a high quality, safe, yet tasty product. Thanks for your high standards.
delicious on grapefruit!4/2/12
Lakanto is a superior sugar replacement. I love to sprinkle it on grapefruit!
Tastes just like sugar.
Can't be without my Lakanto.3/28/12
The best healthy sugar substitute.ever. Great for Diabetics and Dieters and those who want to stay healthy and of course look good. And so of course it's a good investment.
Out with sugar ... In with Lakanto3/25/12
Fantastic sugar replacement because it smells and taste like sugar. I sprinktle Lakanto over cut up strawberries and my son didn't even know the difference!
expensive but worth it3/23/12
I tried working with stevia and xylitol for a long time before I finally caved in and sprang for a bag of Lakanto. I never looked back. Stevia in any form (even the powdered leaf) has a weird aftertaste, and xylitol is almost chemically sweet with a disturbing cold sensation in the mouth. Lakanto has a little bit of that cold sensation but the flavor is much fuller. Also it's easier to use in recipes than either stevia or xylitol. I use less Lakanto than the amount of sugar called for, but once you figure out your preference the conversion is easy.
Incredible that is all I can say, I do not have any problems with sugar other than I know it is poison so I have removed it from my det. I do like to have a couple of things sweetened and I used to use agave syrup but I noticed it bothered my stomach. Lakanto tastes excellent and does not bother mee at all. I wish they had travel pakets.
I love Lacanto as a sugar replacement. I treat it as the granular gold it is-- sparingly. Works great in recipes. good flavor.
I love this stuff.
Wish it was more affordable because I could not live without it. Love it!
I've been using Lakanto to sweeten my food and it is great. I don't even know it's a different kind of sugar. I just wish this products wasn't so expensive. I'd use it more if the amount went down.
LOVE it, but expensive3/10/12
if this was cheaper, i'd order much more of it.
excellent natural sugar replacement3/8/12
Lakanto is the best choice when it comes to sugar replacement. I've been using it for a few years now in baking and everything else and i'm very pleased it.
Taste like sugar 3/8/12
Taste like sugar and it's Healthy for you I use it in hot & cold tea.
great product, just pricey3/8/12
By Annie P
Im love the product- althougth have nt yet cooked with it - just eating it in raw products - but it is quite pricey. I will continue to buy but use sparingly.
reminds us of brown sugar3/8/12
we bought this to help us be successful on the candida diet. It tastes wonderful and saved our sugar cravings. I like that there is no after taste. Hope the price goes down someday.
I like to cook with!3/5/12
Easy to cook with; smooth sweet taste don't change flavors when you add it.
Great alternative sweetner3/5/12
Lakanto is the best substitute yet for sugar.
Works great for baking.
good to have on hand3/5/12
Used in baking...sweetness ok!
I LOVE this stuff! Being a sugar addict, this is the absolute best thing I've come across with zero calories and a zero glycemic index. And it tastes exactly like sugar. I've even baked with it and it does a great job. A bit pricey though.
the cost was a bit pricy but it is well worth it. It tastes like brown sugar and really adds a great flavor. I would definitely buy it again. Health benefits are a plus!!
this product is perfect in every way except it is expensive.
Excellent product-No longer use sugar.
love this product2/23/12
Great for baking and even adding to raw food recipes. My daughter was very careful not to over use her Lakanko I had gotten her, since it was difficult to come by for a while
Excellent product! But way too expensive!
worth it for special occasions2/23/12
I like this product overall. Its a good substitute, and def doesn't give that sugar high. It's pricey so we just use it for baking. It's not economical for daily use.
I absolutely love Lakanto. I use it in place of sugar in everything and really appreciate the fact that there is no aftertaste. I am so happy to have a wonderful product to use in place of sugar to sweeten my food. Thank you for offering this product to your customers.
Tastes just like brown sugar2/11/12
Excellent, looks and tastes like brown sugar, used one for one in recipes, and good for you, amazing!
Great Product; Price is Prohibitive2/7/12
Tastes good. The benefits of fermented sugar cane are not really explained. Is it completely kind to the Pancreas? Tastes good in desserts. But at $10 a cup, it is too expensive to use.
I used this product to replace the sugar in cookies and it was very satisfying to me and my one son.
This sweetener taste great! It's perfect in tea, raw desserts and can even be made into a powdered form and used in raw almond butter fudge. Yum!!!
Excellent sugar substitute!1/18/12
Italian Cookies made theBE and Lakanto Way1/18/12
I made a family Italian cookie uding Qjinoa flour and Lakanto. They turned out spectacular! Great fof dunking in te Teechino or any wsrm beverage. I'm shzring with all I k.ow.
I love this sweetener.
I love this stuff!! Love to put it in my blender....turns into powder...blends much better with everything. Also love that it's cultured!!
It is amazing product!!
Will order again.
Excellent on Ice Cream1/9/12
This was excellent to use when making ice cream, however when making cookies I didn't like the taste. I will try some other variations
Has sugar running scared!1/8/12
I've been using Lakanto since BED introduced it, and have found it to be a consistently great sugar substitute. I've even converted friends who swore they couldn't give up sugar into Lakanto fans. No bitter aftertaste of Stevia and (unlike xylitol) fermented to reduce digestive reactions. Basically it tastes like brown sugar, so its perfect for baking. My only complaint is the same as everyone else's - the astronomical price. It's especially painful because it used to be both cheaper and in a bigger bag. That being said, I just ordered a new bag. For me, it's pretty crucial to breaking a longstanding sugar addiction.
Really Like It1/6/12
I made the lemon pie recipe for Christmas. I thought the lemon filling was delicious. My guests liked it, too. No one knew I hadn't used sugar, and no one commented on any sort of "different taste.
Best sugar substitute sugar ever! However couldn't find it in Japan.1/5/12
Lakanto is well tolerated by our diabetic son. I use it in hot cereals and homemade drinks for myself and we love it and hope that with time this item will become less expensive as people find out that this is the very best substitute ever.....
Perfect sugar substitute1/4/12
I now use it all the time since one of my family members has a dietary restriction. Works wonderfully with everything, for baking, cooking and making sweetened iced tea. I love it !!!
Best sugar substitute1/4/12
Excellent sugar substitute, especially in smoothies (i don't love stevia) and I add it to hot chocolate made with home made almond milk, cacao powder, coconut oil and chia seeds. Delicious dessert if you're having a hard time getting off sugar!
Best no calorie sweetener I have ever used in my baking and general sweetening!
By Lakanto Sweetner
My husband and I have been enjoying Lakanto ever since it became available. Satisfies our sweet tooth without the effects of regular sugar or sugar replacement products. Thanks BE!
Great substitute for sugar1/2/12
I don't miss sugar at all
Don't miss sugar al all with this product,
Tastes delicious, so glad to have this alternative sweetener for baking!
I personally like Lakanto and I use it for baking things. My husband and my sister in law however get tummy pain from it, even in small doses (like a tea spoon in their coffee).
Tastes like light brown sugar. It doesn't cause gassiness and bloating when eaten like other sugar alcohols. It is pricey so we use it sparingly, but very good for the occasional baked treat!
Love this Product12/30/11
I love Lakanto. I use this sweetener when I'm baking pies for my Dad who is diabetic. He loves my pies because he can have more than once piece or a larger piece than if it were made with regular sugar. My husband is also border diabetic and I am encouraging him to use this sweetener instead of regular sugar. Too bad it costs so much because I'd buy more if I had the money.
Like so much lakanto!12/30/11
Lakanto is a great product. I use it for baking and in drinks.
I love it12/30/11
We love the taste and knowing what it is. It is a little expensive, but a wonderful treat. And just maybe in time, it will be a little less expensive but with the same high quality. Thanks
I have chronic and undiagnosed abdominal pain and digestive problems. Try to stay off sugar but it's a trial for me. This is the first sweetener that has tasted, and can be used, like sugar. It's been a godsend.
I absolutely was very upset when I could not order this and it was out of stock. It is the very best tasting sweetner that I have ever used and when cooked with quinoa flakes and ghee it gets really syrupy looking and tasting. I love this stuff. As a matter of fact I ordered two bags this last time because when it was out of stock I almost panicked. You will love it.

I have made the BED oatmeal chocolate chip cookies twice with the Lakanto and the cookies came out great. Tastes just like sugar but doesn't feed the yeast. Highly recommend.
love the taste but not the price. Way too expensive! Not sure why.
Good for use in baking but not for melting as it doesn't melt.
Love it sprinkled on grapefruit.
Disappointed I couldn't use it for making ice cream.
Just like sugar only good for you. Love this product. Just wish it was cheaper...
I am so happy to finally have a natural sweetener that doesn't spike insulin levels; doesn't promote candida; and has no aftertaste. Lakanto is a bit sweeter than sugar so I find myself using a little less than amount required in recipes for sugar. Please keep it in stock (-:
good, but misleading and WAY too expensive12/21/11
I bought this product twice--it's way too expensive! Make sure you know how much 800g really is before you buy it!
This produce is great, tastes good, and works in many things (but does not melt).
In place of this, ZSweet works just as well and costs significantly less (and can get it in some stores). Both products are primarily erythritol, and ZSweet is a tiny bit stevia whereas Lakanto is a tiny bit luo han. (note: Truvia is erythritol and stevia...but it's owned by Coco Cola, so I'd go for other brands first!). You could also buy erythritol on its own and just add a slight bit of stevia to it---you'll save tons of money!
That being said, I love this product, but there's no way I'm paying for it again! I feel it is very misleading to say it is Luo han, when it is mostly erythritol.
The taste is just like sugar but a little sweeter than that. Price is very very expensive. I am satisfied with this product expect price.
This is a wonderful tasting product with no aftertaste. I made baked apples, mixing Lakanto and cinnamon - it turned out great. It is a good product to give my diabetic husband some "sweetness" in his diet without all the side effects. I look forward to the time when this product is more affordable so we can use it more often.
I Love this Sweetener10/4/11
I am enjoying the Lakanto sweetener, which has allowed me to broaden my recipe choices. Being a diabetic as well as suffering from severe systemic candida, Lakanto sweetener has put a little sweet back onto my tastebuds. It is there for me to use whenever I convert a recipe to B.E.D.
Our family loves Lakanto9/26/11
Our family avoids sugar for the most part, so we all are thankful to be able to use Lakanto. Before discovering Lankanto my husband struggled to keep his weight down, now he can sweeten his tea and still keep a trim waistline.
By Nadine Gilder
Love It. Love It, Love It!!! I use one half the amount of what is called for in a recipe for the sugar and the taste is perfect. No after taste and always sweet enough.

I love this product. I have tried to order again lately but you are out of it. I have made brownie's, pancakes, and numerous other items and it is wonderful. Wish it weren't so expensive.
The effect of any sweetner, and I've tried all kinds, always make me fall asleep. I don't know why this is, so I've been looking for something that will not affect me. I've tried practically everything with the same result except for Lakanto. I shared it with a friend and she too said that it gave her no fluctuation in mood or otherwise. And it tastes like sugar, without any after taste. Good thing!
The product arrived on time, and it is the best to sustitud sugar.
Easy to use, same taste9/16/11
Before this product, I tried the stevia extract. It tastes good but we have to convert the weight, if not, it tastes soooo sweet...this product doesn't need such a complicated calculation and easy to use.
I am in Love9/13/11
I am holding my breath and praying that we don't later find out that there is something unhealthy in Lakanto. I love this stuff. It taste JUST like sugar on my cereal! My wife's cookies melt in your mouth with sugary goodness. I had learned to love stevia, but it wasn't good for every application of sweetness, so now we have the answer.
Best Sugar EVER9/13/11
This is by far the best sugar EVER! I just wish it was more affordable. I make the financial sacrifice though because I love my sweets :)
It's better than Stevia but highly expensive. I buy it when I feel like a splurge. Wish there was something like Stevia that tastes this good.
It almost reminds me of brown sugar and tastes like regular sugar. I was very pleased with the taste and no after taste.
Great substitute for sugar9/5/11
My son who craves sweet taste, loves it.
Wonderful to work with baking.9/4/11
Great product for baking. and of course to add to anything to sweeten up.
Lakanto Sweetener is an excellent tool for all of your healthy baking needs, particularly as a substitute for brown sugar. I just made a carmelized sugar cake with Lakanto and it was delicious!
Best tasting sweetener. I add it to smoothies, Vitality Super Green, coconut meat cheese/kefir and anything that needs sweetening. Expensive but worth it!
Very good sugar Substitute9/1/11
I have used this several times for baking as well as putting it in my quinoa breakfast porridge and I love it! It helps when I need to eat something sweet and also has broadened my food options which is always a plus. I think it tastes just as sweet as or better than "real" sugar.
I really enjoy using Lakanto in my ice tea It is a great sugar substitute
good sugar substitute8/30/11
Overall, I love this product. I bakes like sugar and has a pretty good taste. The only reason it is not excellent is that is is a bit more coarse than sugar so doesn't do well in all recipes. I still buy it by the bulk and use it or stevia.
Product almost out of date8/29/11
I received the Lakanto Sweetener on 8/18/2011 and upon looking at the back of the bag noticed it had an expiration date of 10/11/11. I contacted customer service on 8/18/2011 and was told I would receive a refund, but as of 8/29/2011 there has not been a refund nor is there a refund pending. Selling a product with less than two months before expiration is not a good way to run a business. Someone should have checked this before shipping it out. I am very disappointed.
This is the closest product to sugar that I've ever found. My only complaint is that it's rather expensive.
Best tasting sugar substitute ever8/17/11
This is the best tasting sugar substitue I've ever found. I treasure my coffee moments, and this gave them back to me! The biggest (only) drawback is the cost, so I don't use it in large amounts (no baking). What a treat with absolutely no aftertaste!
A good product especially for my wife's sweet tooth!
Tastes great in hot drinks, cereal, great for baking and cooking too. Flavor is just as good as sugar, even my family didn't notice.
Great sugar substitute8/11/11
Really nice sugar substitute. Really broadens baking options and allows that "sweet fix" when needed.
Lakanto is quite good. I tried it last night for the first time on an apply cobbler and served it to company and everyone liked it. It is definitely expensive and there is now a similar variety in the healthfood stores for a bit less and no shipping. I will probably try that next.
What a wonderful sugar replacement. So, happy I decided to try. Helps with my sugar cravings, and tastes amazing. No weird aftertaste. Thanks Donna!
awesome substitute for sugar8/11/11
Lakanto is a great substitute for sugar without the negative effects! It tastes great too!!
Tastes just like real sugar! And no aftertaste. 8/9/11
So happy I decided to try Lakanto. Tastes just like real sugar. No fake aftertaste like most sugar substitutes. Its been a blessing to help curb my sugar cravings. Thanks Donna!
Lakanto good, but can have allergic reaction from Corn8/8/11
I do like Lakanto very much. Good product, price is rather high, and I don't like the fact that it's derivied from corn. People who are sensitive to corn may have a reaction to it. So, I am hoping that Lakanto will go to a company that makes it Erthitol from something other than corn like grapes. Most people are not allergic to grapes and grapes are a large crop throught out the US. and the World, so it would be easy to change over I would think. So, that's my thought, please change Erythitol from being made from corn to being made from grapes instead, so it safer to eat for all people.
You cannot buy a better product than Lakanto, it's as sweet as sugar, it has no aftertaste, it retains it sweetness even after cooking with it. And the best part, it has a zero index, no calories, and absolutely does not raise your blood sugar. I was recently in the hospital and used Lankato in my coffee and cereal. The nurse kept poking with the sugar meter and my blood sugar remained at or below 100. The poking was no fun, but the results were nothing less than Wow!!!
I use this in everything from tea to coconut flour muffins to low-carb brownies. It's delicious! It's also nice to sweeten up sour kefir for small children.
It's nice to have options!8/4/11
We use Stevia yet it is great to have more then one sweetner option! This sweetner truly is good for baking! Thank you BED!
This stuff has saved my life on the diet. I have been on it for 4 weeks, and have always had a big sweet tooth. I have used it in cream of buckwheat, zucchini bread, and frozen kefir! I love it! I only wish it were cheaper!
This is an excellent substitute for sugar. It looks like sugar, tastes like sugar, behaves like sugar. So far (2 weeks) so good.
Lakanto is the one sweetner that tastes as good as or maybe better than sugar. It cooks and bakes well and is great in coffee and tea. Only drawback is it is expensive.
I bake many things with Lakanto and love it! It is a fantastic sugar substitute because it tastes so good and it has a similar sweetness to sugar so when subsituting Lakanto in recipes, it is a 1:1 ratio. I am so glad I have found this product as it makes staying away from sugar so much easier.
Bakes incredibly well and tastes fantastic. Too expensive. 7/22/11
I love this product, it bakes well and tastes amazing in baked goods. I did try it with icing and that was way too sweet, so I've going to cut down the amount and maybe substitute stevia instead. I wish Body Ecology would sell this in buik and find a way to reduce the price. This is the only sweetner I've found that tastes great in baked goods and doesn't feed yeast, but it's way too expensive.
Tastes like sugar, looks like sugar, bakes like sugar but it's not!!! I love it and use it daily!
I love Lakanto! I enioy it in my tea, bake with it, and sprinkle it on popcorn or toast for a quick sweet treat. And it doesn't trigger sugar cravings in me so I make healthier food choices and stay balanced.
Great substitute for sugar in recipes especially recipes involving baking or heating. Gives my diabetic husband an opportunity to have sugar-like products made by me with love.
This is by far the best tasting natural sweetener with zero glycemic index impact I have ever tried. I feel good about eating this when I get a sweet tooth craving; it tastes so good I feel like I'm cheating!
Good granulated sweetner7/12/11
The taste is quite good. The main down side is the cost. Quite expensive to us in cooking or baking.
Awesome substitute for sugar!7/12/11
I was looking for a healthy sweetener to replace sugar for my husband who enjoys drinking hot tea. He loves it and it doesn't have that horrible chemical taste you can get from some other alternative sweeteners. My only wish is that it wasn't so expensive. Other than that Lakanto is our favorite!!
I absolutely love this product!
This product works so well in cooking. I use it in sauces, muffins, over oatmeal, and even to sweeten my tea although I prefer Stevia in a drink. Would love to see the price go down a bit.
My husband and I enjoy this product very much. It gives us a great tasting sweetner without the glycemic or calories of regular sugar and the chemicals of artificial sweetners. It is great to cook with unlike stevia.
Lakanto is a great tasting alternative to refined sugar. I've been using it for years. The only down side is the cost. It is extremely expensive. The cost however has not stopped me from re-ordering it.
I believe that I've tried every sugar alternative, and this is the only one that doesn't have an aftertaste! I'm picky, and just can't find one in the stores that aren't bitter in coffee. I'm so glad I tried Lakanto.
Fantastic product...can't live without it!7/12/11
By Dr. Dawn
I am a total sugar snob. I hate all sugar substitutes including Stevia. Lakanto tastes like the real thing.
Use it in everything along with the Stevia.
The best sweetener7/12/11
I have been off of sugar and other high glycemic sweeteners for four years now. During this period I have tried every kind of low-glycemic, non-candida feeding sugar there is. Lakanto is better tasting than any of them and it does not have the unwanted side effects of sweeteners like Xylitol. Also it is perfect for baking. Regular Erythritol is pretty good but Lakanto is even better. Lakanto has kept me away from tempting sugary treats many times! I highly recommend it!!! I love making lemonade with sparkling water, lemon juice and Lakanto.
Works great in coffee and doesn't taste bitter like other sweeteners in hot drinks.
Best substitute for baking I have found.7/12/11
I have tried many sugar substitutes. I love Stevia for everything except baked food, and for that Lakanto is the best. I make some delicious sugar free desserts with this great tasting sweetner. LOVE IT!
This is a great alternative to sugar. I use it to sweeten my iced tea. And I don't feel guilty about using it. Though I do wish it was cheaper.
I enjoy baking with this and knowing that I'm not giving my family sugar and they're loving it. It is priced a bit high though
By R. L.
This was my first time trying Lakanto and, for the most part, I really liked it. While pricey, it does a nice job substituting for the flavor brown sugar, particularly in baked goods. My one complaint is that it does not dissolve well in cold liquids. At least that is my experience. Because of it's price, I use sparingly, but will purchase again.
This is an amazing product and I would recommend it. The only problem with this product is it is very expensive.
This product is fabulous!7/12/11
I was desperate to get off of sugar and chemical sugar substitutes, and my health care provider suggested Lakanto -- and then let me taste it! Wow! I have not baked with it (only because I don't bake), but I use it DAILY in my coffee and tea. It tastes wonderful, and rewards a dash of cinnamon as well. I only wish the price were lower, but I can say that about many things these days! If you can afford it, it's absolutely worth it, and wonderful! I will continue to purchase it regularly.
Love love love it. 7/12/11
Been using for years and wouldn't live without it.
Excellent flavor and sweetener.7/11/11
I enjoy using Lakanto in my iced drinks, especially iced tea. I like the sweet flavor it gives the drinks. I have also used it in baked goods and have been very satisfied.
Lakanto is so good!7/11/11
I love Lakanto! I can make pies, cookies, and cakes knowing i am providing tasty sugar free treats for myself, family, and friends. Just wish it was less expensive.
Tasty and safe sweetener!7/11/11
Lakanto is fantastic, it is one of the only sweeteners we use in my house now. It is fantastic for almost every use including baked goods, and it even tastes great in my morning cup of coffee!
Alternative to stevia7/11/11
I'm not much of a baker but I did make the caramelized onion recipe using lakanto. I'm a huge fan of stevia but it's nice to have this as another option. I am wondering about the GI effects mentioned above...
wonderful..... i am sold on this product7/11/11
I am not a sugar person, but when Lakanto Sweetener was introduced to me I loved it.
I now add a little bit to my coffee and my protein shake in the morning.... yumm-o!!!
Sprinkle a little on your fruit too :)
I like this stuff a LOT, it taste great, is easy to use and does not not feed the yeast. My only complaint is the cost, $35 bucks a bag, give me a break!
Taste like brown sugar.
Taste great - 2nd order7/11/11
I really like this sweetner and this is a reorder!!!
I love this stuff! I cook and bake for my family all the time and this product has helped me keep them healthy and allows them to enjoy it too! You just need to know how to use it and then it works great.
It's worth a try!!! 7/11/11
My family really enjoys the taste. I found it very easy to work with and actually have to use less. the price is a little steep .
my new love7/11/11
I love the rich caramel taste lakanto adds to my coffee. I also use it in sauces and dressings...eventually it will replace all the sugar in my home (when the price is lower)! It really tastes so delicious I like it more than sugar!!!!
The best sugar substitute around . It is excellent with hot beverages. Could never use anything else in my coffee without changing taste of coffee..However, I bit pricey.
This is a very high quality sweetener and have been using it for baking and I have had good results. I also use it in my quinoa breakfast porridge as well and it adds just the right amount of sweetness!
The greatest sweetner available7/11/11
This is the greatest sweetner. I had chemical tastes of artificial sweetners. This tastes just like sugar, 0 glycemic, 0 calories, 0 carbs. I use this freely without guilt and without worrying about my health. The answer to "if only there was a good alternative to sugar out there." There is and it is Lakanto! Love it!
Great substitute for sugar with good taste, but it is way too expensive.
response to Ruby6/26/11
Lo Han can be purched on line but as is it is not suitable for baking. I got mine from Advanced Natural(www.advancednaturals.com)
as I have a wholesale account with that company and still it was very expensive. Global Sweets carries the alcohol sugars. I am looking for an alternative sweeter for making jelly. Any suggestions would be appreciated. ja
I love Lakanto. It's the perfect 1:1 sweetener for making homemade sauces and marinades and adding a little sweetening to beverages. the only drawback is the price.
Another time I ordered Lakanto and received complimentary individual sized travel packets- would love to be able to buy these as well!
Just another sugar alcohol5/19/11
I ordered and received Lakanto a few weeks ago. Don't love it. It's just o'kay. I noticed that NOWHERE on this website is the percentage of Erythritol listed. It's 99.8%! Only 0.2% Luo. A little misleading to heavily emphasize Luo, while using so darn little. Bottom line, it's just a super expensive sugar alcohol. With all of the accompanying GI side effects. Except that this one claims to be organic, I can't distinguish the difference between this and maltilol. Wish I had done a little more research before I spent almost $40. I'd like to find a resource for pure Luo and try that without the erythritol. Anyone know where I can get a hold of some?
can't get by without it!5/19/11
By chicago mom
This has helped keep peace in our house. I gradually phased out sugar by combining it with Lakanto and now my kids are happy with the cookies I bake using lakanto and no sugar. I add it to marinades to make sauces as tasty as they were before we gave up sugar.
works great for baked goods5/19/11
We really like Lakanto. It works, just as they say, to substitute sugar in baked goods. We found it does not work so well in anything where it should melt, because it does not melt, no matter how long you boil it and cook it. An example is hot chocolate. Just as a response to another review, I quote from the description of the product, "Lakanto is made by fermentation while the other sugar alcohols are made from hydrogenation." It is NOT the same as malitol because of the fermentation. And because of the fermentation, it should not cause the GI side effects. We have never noticed any effects in our family of seven. It would be nice if the website included the product labels, like it did before the site changed. Then people like the above reviewer would be able to see the facts before they buy.
