It’s the topic our listeners have been asking for: all about your skin. We’re born with skin, and yet, we don’t think much about it until we have a problem.

Dasha says: “I’ve read The Body Ecology Diet thousands of times. That’s my go-to book for when I’ve taught a bunch of lectures — specifically, on the connection between your diet, your skin, and your gut.” Order your copy now.

In this brand-new Body Ecology Living episode, Donna Gates and Dasha Saian, co-founder/CEO of Saian® Skincare and certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant, chat about simple-but-smart ways to illuminate your skin from within.

Dasha explains exactly what gut wellness has to do with glowing skin

Check out the highlights of this episode:

  • It’s essential to know how to maintain your skin at home.  With COVID, everyone’s been doing more at home — including skincare. Understanding pro-level skincare practices and using quality products are important, Dasha says. While a facial treatment is just once a month, what you do daily is what’s going to be reflected in how your skin looks at the end of the day.
  • Zoom can cause sun damage too. In 2020 and 2021, our risk of skin damage skyrocketed just from all our Zoom and telecommunication use. You may be at risk for sun damage, just like UV damage, from sitting in front of your computer. Dasha says that now studies show that you have to use SPF if you’re going to be on long Zooms to protect your skin from UV and blue light.
  • A GI disorder may be triggering inflammation in your skin. Dasha finds that gut issues are commonly accompanied by inflammatory responses in the skin. So, acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, eczema, and even rosacea may manifest. Symptoms of digestive issues can appear around the jawline — which Dasha often observes when doing a consultation on a new client.
  • Don’t take just any skincare vitamin. Be careful with some of the hair, skin, and nail vitamins as they’re marketed, Dasha says. If there’s too much of the B group vitamin, for example, some people may have a reaction and become acneic. Dasha personally takes around 200 mg of hyaluronic acid to support joints, eyes, and skin lubrication.
