Frankincense & Myrrh: Why If You Value Stress-Release and a Healthy Respiratory System You’d Be Wise to Use Them Too

Gold and Frankincense and Myrrh.

More than two thousand years ago, wise men presented these valuable gifts to the baby Jesus.

The ancient Egyptians used frankincense and myrrh to anoint kings and mummify their dead. These days, frankincense and myrrh essential oils keep you healthy by relieving stress and treating respiratory infections.

At that time in the ancient world, people considered frankincense and myrrh to be more valuable than the gold.

Frankincense was the oil of choice to anoint kings and newborns.

It also enhanced meditation and was prized as an exotic perfume.

Expecting mothers used myrrh to ward off infection and to brighten their moods, while ancient Egyptians embalmed their mummies with it and Greek soldiers healed their battle wounds with myrrh essential oil.

Today, you can use frankincense and myrrh for a variety of conditions, especially for stress relief and to heal respiratory infections.

You just may find that these essential oils are more valuable than gold!

Frankincense and Myrrh: Essential Oils Essential for Health

Frankincense and myrrh essential oils are steam distilled from the sap of two different trees that grow across regions of the Middle East and Northern Africa.

The ancients highly valued these oils, and for good reason. Today, frankincense and myrrh are recognized to have amazing healing properties.

Want to treat your skin conditions and lift your mood, naturally? Pure essential oils are a gift from nature, and frankincense is especially effective – it can even treat skin cancer!

Frankincense is suitable for many conditions and has been shown to:

  • Treat skin inflammation, scarring, wrinkles and acne
  • Encourage cellular regeneration
  • Alleviate headaches
  • Treat allergies
  • Help heal bronchitis, laryngitis, and asthma
  • Enhance digestion
  • Slow down and deepen your breathing
  • Act as a powerful anti-depressant
  • Calm your mind, ease anxiety, and reduce nightmares
  • Have properties that can heal melanoma

Myrrh is equally beneficial and can:

  • Balance your thyroid and endocrine system
  • Heal fungal and viral infections
  • Enhance your emotional well being
  • Treat ulcers
  • Eliminate gingivitis
  • Rid your body of parasites
  • Relieve asthma, coughs and colds
  • Act as an expectorant and rids your body of congestion
  • Reduce cholesterol

Donna Gates has been recommending essential oils for your physical and emotional healing for years. Frankincense and myrrh truly are valuable tonics for a healthy body.

While you may not know it, essential oil brands (even those sold in health food stores) can label their products 100% pure, while still extending them up to 50% with other chemicals (some of them cancer-causing).

Look for an essential oil that has been tested for 100% purity. You can immediately tell their quality by smelling the deep, rich scent.

Try these tips for using frankincense and myrrh:

Diffusion: Use a diffuser with 15 to 20 drops of your favorite essential oil (or your favorite combination) to disperse healing scent throughout the room.

Topically: Rub 1-2 drops of essential oil on the back of your neck, on pulse points, or on your feet for quick relief. Dana Young also suggested that 1 – 2 drops on the front of your neck (around your thyroid area) may help if you have low thyroid.*

Inhalation: To help calm uneasiness, place 1-2 drops in the palm of your hands or on a soft cloth and inhale any time of the day.

Myrrh Tea: Dilute 1 drop in 1 teaspoon of honey and mix with 4 ounces warm water for tea.*
Myrrh Beauty Cream: Add a few drops to your customary face and/or hand lotion and apply to face, neck and hands.

Frankincense Anti-depressant: Place 1-2 drops under your tongue as needed.

A great way to use frankincense and/or myrrh is to add several drops to your favorite carrier oil (like organic unrefined coconut oil or sweet almond oil) to create a healing allover body oil.

Whether you use frankincense or myrrh, you might discover that these essential oils are worth their weight in gold!
