Food as Affirmations for the Soul!
By Donna Gates, as seen on:
We crave to feel honored by others.
When others honor us, they affirm our wisdom, our commitment and our light.
When we affirm this for others, we appreciate them for who they are, rather than what they have accomplished in life. We bring them into the present time and space where they are infinite, soulful and endless expressions of LOVE.
While food may seem like a very minor detail for those walking a spiritual path, food can be a very powerful messenger to the body.
We can give small morsels of affirmations to the body with every bite that we eat.
Food can deliver messages of joy, vibrancy and strength to all the cells of the body.
The next time you eat, affirm:
I am joy. I am vibrant. I am strong.
I am gratitude. I am perfect. I am complete.
We enhance our vitality and bliss by choosing foods that are full of life energy.
This means eating foods from your own community as much as possible. Food that has been shipped halfway across the globe to get to your supermarket has lost much of its life force.
This means going beyond organic, and choosing foods that are raised and farmed in a way that is sustainable for the planet.
This means eating fresh fruits and vegetables that are picked at the peak of their ripeness and hold the most nutrients for your body.
This means eating fermented foods and culturing your own foods at home. The living probiotic bacteria and active enzymes in cultured foods assist in digestion and unlock nutrients.
This means variety. Eat a variety of plants. Choose a variety of colors. Create a rainbow on your plate. Do not to rely on heavily funded and genetically modified crops such as corn, soy, and wheat.
This means knowing your farmer. Or at least going to their website and giving them a call if you have questions. Both hens and cows are happier when they are allowed to forage on green pasture and spend time in the sun. Healthy eggs and healthy dairy come from animals that live outside the confines of modern industrial farming.
This means investing in soil. While soil may not seem like much, it is the foundation of life. Support farmers that allow their animals to forage, since only healthy soil can produce a vibrant and green pasture. Avoid farmers that use synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.
Maintain a compost bin, because with the help of bacteria, worms, and fungi you can create your own small patch of rich soil.
Food is a way to nourish the body. We fully nourish the body when we eat foods that radiate life force. Just like we are more than a sum of our parts, food is more than a mixture of minerals, vitamins, and macronutrients.
Too often, we focus on what food does rather than what it is.
Be sure to use the food that you eat as little affirmations for your body.
