Finding Clarity When You’re In Overwhelm

By Donna Gates, as seen on:

If we are to be conscious creators of our life experience, we must learn to harness will power and get past the times in our lives when our thinking becomes muddled because our brains and bodies are too taxed for clear intent and decision-making.

When we refine how we interact with and communicate with the world around us, our steps will have purpose, our thoughts will have clarity, and our goals will become our reality.

When life feels chaotic, the experiences that arise are an important mirror for the activity of our body, mind, and spirit.

Consider the possibility that how others treat you is a reflection of how you feel about yourself.

Besides the external clues to the chaos we may be unconsciously creating, there are red flags we most likely have been ignoring or learning to live with in the physical body.

Doubt, uncertainty, and confusion have the tendency to spiral out of control when we are overwhelmed with every day life.

We hold these emotions in our body. In Chinese Medicine, emotional turmoil can cause the energy in the body to get stuck.

Where are you currently holding your unprocessed emotions? Your stomach? Your throat? Your joints?

Identify the areas that feel stuck, sore, painful, stiff or swollen. These symptoms are indicators or what Dr. Darren Weissman calls “gifts in strange wrapping paper.”

For me, breath-work is the first step in gaining clarity. Once I am in-tune with and aware of the areas of discomfort, I breathe into them. I recommend you use your breath to infuse your body with oxygen and movement.

Next, I always tell people to focus on the foods their diet. Food can contribute to and even exacerbate symptoms in the body.

Are you in a routine of eating the same things? Do you feel tired after eating or energized? Do you crave sweets after eating? Do you feel bloated?

I often find certain subjects to be triggers for specific food cravings. I am sure you have had the experience of taking a bite out of something and simultaneously having the thought “I shouldn’t be eating this!”

So consider choosing foods that are healthy and full of nutrition – like fermented spirulina, coconut water kefir, and ocean vegetables – to increase your cellular energy and clarify your intention.

When we strengthen our mind and body through breath work and superior nutrition, we can ground ourselves and release uncertainty. We walk with purpose. We more effectively share our gifts with those around us.

How do you deal with being overwhelmed? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
