How this All-Too-Common Habit is Making Your Blood Dangerously Acidic

Do you know your blood's pH level? And why would it matter?

Here's why: To be truly healthy your blood must remain slightly alkaline at all times. You and your body wouldn't have it any other way. What you might not know is that taking common drugs causes your blood to become considerably more acidic. This then leads to weight gain, early aging, infection, and even degenerative diseases.

Acid vs. Alkaline
One important way to promote healthy alkaline blood (with a pH right around 7.35) is to eat a meal that has an abundance of alkaline-forming foods. When your blood is alkaline it will function at optimum efficiency - processing toxins and disposing of them properly, absorbing nutrients and providing life-giving oxygen and energy to hard working cells.

We Americans eat mostly acid-forming meals full of sugar, processed foods, artificial sweeteners, caffeine, and way too much poorly digested animal protein. If your digestion is poor from a lack of stomach acid and other enzymes- a common condition today - and if you know nothing about the value of proper food combining, you will not digest your meals. Poor digestion also contributes to an acidic blood condition.

Stress, too, is acid forming. Add stress to an acid-forming diet and you wreak havoc on your body's chemistry, creating waste products that only produce more acidity.

Soon, your red blood cells can't deliver oxygen and nutrients as efficiently to all your cells. Your body craves minerals and leaches them from other places in your body, even your teeth and your bones, leaving you at risk for osteoporosis. These minerals are vital for healthy adrenals and without them pulling for you each day, you will find that your energy levels drop. Low energy and mineral-deficient blood set the stage for systemic viral and fungal infections, like candida and herpes. It's no surprise that you'd want to take action to feel better, but is turning to prescription drugs the answer?

Do Drugs Help or Hinder Health?

Drugs, both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC), can be very helpful in some circumstances. And nearly EVERYONE has taken some kind of drug over the course of a lifetime. But we live in a world of duality where everything has a "front" and a "back" side. The ancient Chinese called this yin and yang. Drugs do have a positive side to them but are you aware of their dark side?

While drugs are promoted to heal your body, you may not realize that they also add to the acidic environment decreasing your ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients. This acidic blood condition also reduces your body's ability to repair damaged cells, to detoxify heavy metals, and even encourages growth of tumor cells. Drugs do not heal. They simply create another imbalance. True healing is creating balance.

Besides their active ingredients, many drugs contain caffeine and aspartame, two very acid-forming substances that are FDA approved but nonetheless can be harmful.

Aspartame can change chemical levels in your brain that affect behavior, and human studies reported depression, menstrual irregularities, constipation, headaches and fatigue as common side effects!

Sadly, most Americans alive today have been unconsciously saturated with relentless advertising on television and in magazines that promote drug use as if it were the "norm." It's what you do when you don't feel well, like eating when you're hungry or sleeping when you tired. For short-term or long-term use there's a drug for anything that ails you. We're hooked, much to the delight of the pharmaceutical companies, who have spent billions on advertising to influence your behavior.

Simply changing what you eat and drink, plus adjusting your lifestyle to include sunlight, exercise, fresh air and a good night's sleep, are superior and economical actions for recapturing your health if you have lost it.

Drugs can create an acidic environment in your body, making it more attractive to pathogens

Your Inner Ecosystem is Key

If your diet and lifestyle habits are currently contributing to overly-acidic blood, your inner ecosystem (made up of healthy microorganisms that reside in your intestines and keep you healthy) is most likely out of balance as well. Among it's many tasks, your inner ecosystem actually helps maintain healthy balanced blood.
When your inner ecosystem is out of balance, pathogenic microflora start to take over and kill off the good guys. Taking drugs is actually creating further damage by providing more acid-producing fuel that bad bacteria and other pathogens love.

It's no surprise that we sometimes feel like we are not getting well, no matter how many doctors we see or drugs we take. With an unhealthy inner ecosystem, our immunity is at risk.
